Very strict working environment. No excuses were tolerated. You could be in the hospital and it would be held against you.
Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Hamburg, PASeptember 19, 2018
The job is fast paced and very stressful. Because of this a lot of mistakes were made by the operators. Long hours and you only got paid for holidays you were scheduled to work. Those scheduled holidays you had to work unless you put a vacation request in and it had to be approved. If it wasn't approved then it was held against you. A lot of times we were laid off and had to use our vacation time if they sent us home. This was during slow periods.
Pros
It paid the bills
Cons
Driving distance, scheduled vacation days and if not you were given warnings

12 hour shifts - 3-4 day work weeks - rotating weekends
Production Floor Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Little Falls, MNSeptember 6, 2018
on your feet for 12 hours.
treated as a number instead of an employee.
almost impossible to get fired except for attendance.
ok insurance.
high turnover for new employees.
Management has disregarded the value of long term employees so they are all quitting.
*** HORRIBLE training department. the majority of the trainers don't know what they are doing to begin with and are literally incapable of training. Training supervisors are more concerned with paperwork than how to actually do the job.
They have taken on more work than they can facilitate so everything is a rush order and quality is tossed out the window and are asking staff for unrealistic output goals (far grater than the machines abilities).
If you need a temp job to pay the rent, its not a bad place to do that.
Pros
air conditioned inside job - ok pay
Cons
horrible training department

Good Benefits and Schedule
Data Processing Tech I (Current Employee) –  Chanhassen, MNAugust 25, 2018
IWCO Direct gives their employees decent benefits such as healthcare and dental. PTO and Vacation do not start very high which is not a deal breaker because of scheduling. The work environment is fast paced and a lot of the processes do not have supporting documentation which can make things stressful. The languages used are old but not impossible to learn. Depending on the jobs that are assigned things can start to get a bit repetitive. If you are one to consistently find ways to improve a job process this would be the job for you.
Pros
Flexible Scheduling, Nice upper management
Cons
Not a lot career advancement, very limited to the tools available to process jobs

Equipment Technician (Former Employee) –  Hamburg, PAAugust 20, 2018
Its a decent place to learn to be a technician and meet decent people, but if you want to make decent money you'll have to work lots of OT which is always available. The supervisors will work with you when you have family emergency's. also 12 hour shifts suck
Pros
lots of learning experiences and good people to work with
Cons
low pay and 12 hour shifts

Bad place to work
Machine Operater (Current Employee) –  Hamburg, PAJuly 30, 2018
Hamburg gave a big raise to new employees. Us employees that have been there forever got nothing. Shows how much dedication means to that co.. A lot of our seasoned employees are looking for new jobs, or have left already. Always nickel and dimeing us. They work us to death. Management is the worst it's ever been! We work just about all holidays, but the office is always off all holidays!

If it's a 24 hr. working facility, then they should be there too! We would love to spend holidays with our families also! The veterans of this place have had enough, and we're not going to take it anymore! They're building a lot of new businesses in our area, and we are all looking forward to working for a company that appreciates their dedicated workers!

A horrid, time consuming dead end job
Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Hamburg, PA 19526June 14, 2018
Not only were the 12 hour shifts time consuming, the manager there was an extremely unpleasant nag that aggressively pushed people into operating the machines at ever-increasing faster rates. That, & the hourly quotas (making X pieces of mail per hour) were too fast for the average worker. As for breaks, they wanted you to spend the last minute walking back to the station, or else you got punished. It took 2 minutes typically to reach the lunchroom, so you had to eat your food fairly fast.

Come in eat breakfast then get right to work. One 30 minute break for lunch. Recommend taking the early shift. Some busy days and some slow days. Be ready to sit around with not much to do.
