Sales Associate in Texas
on November 8, 2020
This store was a brand new store. A small but elegant boutique. Beautiful clothes! I think I could have really enjoyed working here except for 2 things: one, they expect each sales associate to plan charity events in the store, sounds easy but actually it's not. 2nd a most important, I did not like the store manager! She could be very condescending! The district manager was wonderful, loved her. I would have probably stayed if it wasn't for the store manager.

Would not recommend working here. Lots of favoritism and always seem to be behind schedule. Departments don't work together well and there is a lack of design inspiration.
Sales Specialist in Lafayette, CA

Love working in a boutique atmosphere the company believes in giving back to the community. Upper management is very accommodating and very understanding.
Manager in Virginia

Very backwards way of running a retail store but they are owned by a company that was previously in the financial industry... They have terrible structures for store teams and ALL home office departments. They put favoritism over performance, to get promoted it’s not what you know but who you know. J. McLaughlin gives you absolutely no work life balance the point where you can’t take a real lunch break or run to the bathroom for over 3 hours because you are the ONLY employee working that day.
Back stock room/ part time sales associate in Palm Beach, FL
on November 24, 2020
I worked there for a short amount of time because the staff was stuck up and NASTY. They stuck me in the backroom doing stocking and rarely let me come up front because I was young, skinny and good at sales. They literally hated me because of my age and body type! They also said I had to buy the clothes to wear them while working there, yet it had to come out of your own pocket and its SUPER EXPENSIVE, hence the reason I needed a job with a higher salary. The staff was so nasty that when I finally had the opportunity to work with a customer, another woman would come and steal my customer away from me and take the little bit of commission I would have made. Commission is only in "J Bucks" which you used to purchase the clothing yourself. The management was very insensitive and was not helpful. There was a lot of favoritism and overall the store was not run properly and the staff was old and cranky
