I worked with a research professor. Be open to the options JMU has to provide with studies, and read up on professors before you ask to join a lab so you are aware of their goals and studies.

I didn't have an interview. I was asked if I wanted to continue my research over the summer, and in exchange, I would be given a stipend.

Interview is relaxed, but come into the interview making sure you're in love with the facility and JMU because nothing's worse than hiring an employee who doesn't like the job in the first place because then productivity would be low overall.
