Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI think we all miss the old JCS when it felt like a family. Now it feels like a business which is not always a bad thing but not as good for employee retention.

N/A (Former Employee) - Miami, FL - July 6, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Coworkers are all talented and hardworking What is the most stressful part about working at the company? President & CEO is a megalomaniac who doesn’t respect boundaries with respect to employees’ personal time life. Also not transparent regarding the organization

Can be emotional workplace but overall easy-going
Helpline Counselor (Former Employee) - Miami, FL - September 7, 2022
A typical day is a couple of calls where you either engage in counseling, providing referrals, or doing both. I learned that it takes patience and you also have to have a work/personal life balance because this can take a toll on you sometimes. The workplace in its entirety was amazing being personal and friendly. This is definitely not a place that has any kind of drama. The most enjoyable part of this job is it aided me in school since I was studying Psychology to become a Psychologist.
Pros
Pto, Sick days, Friendly environment, good pay
Cons
Heavy emotional and physical load with some callers

I found purpose here!
Human Resources (Current Employee) - Miami, FL - June 21, 2022
Coming from the private sector, I was used to seeing people stepping on others for personal gain. This is not the case at JCS. I do not know if it is because it is a non-profit or if it is the culture, but JCS feels like a single unit, wanting to help the community and each other.

Great organization to work for in Miami. I learned a lot about different resources in Miami Dade and felt like I was part of a family. If you are looking for a new job opportunity this organization is a great place to start!

Time for a change
Director (Current Employee) - North Miami, FL - July 22, 2017
Easy work, people are difficult. Program staff are underpaid.
Management is older adults and narrow minded, antiquated. Challenging to be heard, technologically challenged management as well..
Pros
Fairly unrestristriced
Cons
Unfair practices depending upon with whom you work.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR, PROJECT DASH (Former Employee) - Aventura, FL - October 11, 2014
I loved my colleagues and many have become my lifelong friends. I loved the nature of the work, the human connectedness, and the mission of the agency. However, I felt that the compensation was very low.

A good place to work in service to others
Trainer/Job Coach (Former Employee) - Miami, FL - May 30, 2012
A typical day involves writing monthly case progress reports, which can amount to over 100+ clients for staff located at two different offices. I was involved with the monthly billing for services rendered as all reports and billing statements must be signed and submitted by the deadline and this process involves a great deal of traveling to different offices in two different counties. The position also requires day to day office work, such as answering video phone calls, file maintenance, etc. I liked the variety of doing something nearly everyday and working with minimal supervision. The hardest part is keeping up to date with client demographic information from incomplete records, missing files, etc.
Pros
advancement, good benefits
Cons
long commute from home, reimbursement rate too low
