Was an ok first job
Sandwich Maker and Cashier (Former Employee) - Ashburn, VA - March 1, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI worked at Jimmy Johns while I was in high school. It was a pretty easy job. I was there for less than five months because I received another job offer. My duties mostly included cleaning and wrapping sandwiches. They didn't trust me to cut or make sandwiches unless we were super busy.
Pros
Easy going, and helpful coworkers
Cons
PICs aren't the best managers

Great place to work, lots of fun and rewarding
General Manager (Former Employee) - Tallahassee - December 10, 2023
A manager for JJ works long hours, day started at 5am, typically went pretty steady until 5pm every day and some weekends. It was a lot of long hours but the day ususally went by quick. Owner is awesome.
Pros

I enjoyed working there and the managers were awesome. I will say that as a driver the tips and bad. Some of the customers you deliver too will try trick you to get out of paying.

Decent work if there's nothing else
Person In Charge (PIC) (Former Employee) - Watertown, MA - December 8, 2023
Pay was too low in my opinion, but I worked in a fairly slow store and worked with a fun crew. Management can be overbearing about cleaning, but the work is easy.

lacking support from upper management
General Manager (Former Employee) - Troy, IL - December 8, 2023
They'll hire just about anybody who applies, and offer little incentive to keep the truly committed employees on staff. Lots of petty drama, very little opportunity to truly move up the latter, they happily shoved the responsibilities of GM on me, but never payed me for my labor. I made $15.25 an hour when I was hired on with the promise of $21 an hour. there's better places to work where you're properly compensated for your time.

Fairly straight forward, be prepared to stand all day
Person In Charge (PIC) (Former Employee) - Longmont, CO - December 8, 2023
The atmosphere of Jimmy Johns is usually pretty negative. Middle management thinks they run the world and abuse their power, and your co-workers might still be in highschool. The customers can be extremely entitled and will cuss you out over the phone. Be prepared to be short staffed, and to do everything yourself. Also now that Inspire owns JJ, be prepared to learn a new menu item every month.

Not terrible
Driver (Former Employee) - Kalamazoo, MI - December 7, 2023
Decent place to make it by if you're a driver. Good coworkers sometimes. Corporate is garbage and the owner of the company is a cow. Overall I enjoyed working there

Easy work but draining if you are surrounded by the wrong people
Jimmy Johns inshop (Former Employee) - Lynnwood, WA - December 6, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? the pay and the work itself was rather easy What is the most stressful part about working at the company? when co workers weren’t pulling their own weight What is the work environment and culture like at the company? when i started it was great, laid back but near the end people were getting fired for no reason and everyone would just come in to work to complain about work so the energy was just off What is a typical day like for you at the company? making sandwiches, cleaning up, doing dishes, doing register.

Easy Work & Good Management
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Granbury, TX - December 6, 2023
It’s making sandwiches and driving deliveries, as far as food service goes it beats a lot of other options. The only thing that could make it unbearable is bad management, and at this store both the owners and managers showed actual care and put effort in helping employees overcome their weak areas, if they were willing to learn, even with a hopeless case like me. Hardest part is honestly keeping up speed in the store but that’s any food service job. And if you deliver, you don’t even have to be on your feet all day, and driving is easily the best part, but you are timed on getting back so don’t fall too in love with it.

overall good vibes
Driver (Former Employee) - 66 e golf Shaumburg - December 1, 2023
People here are awesome as long as your willing to pull your own weight. Tips are good but you have to work your way up to earn them but they do come and you have to be able to work fast.

Terrible place to work.
Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Washington, MO - December 1, 2023
So my experience is just with this particular franchise, it could be completely different working for another one. First off, I have never worked somewhere with such inflexible scheduling. You are not allowed to ask off, even if you know weeks in advance that you can’t work a certain day for whatever reason. Management expects you to find someone to cover your shift, even when you know weeks in advance that you’re unable to work that day. They do nothing to help you, and since they’re constantly understaffed, it’s easier said than done to find coverage. The pay is abysmal. The work environment is terrible. On eight hour shifts you’re supposed to get a 30 minute break. I think I’ve gotten my break twice? Most of the time they make no effort to give you the break you’re supposed to get. Obviously no PTO or vacation, no benefits. I really do not recommend working for this franchise.

Nothing great stands out about the company
In-shopper (Former Employee) - Danville, IN - November 30, 2023
The typical day at work was really difficult especially with my manager. Always breathing down on your neck while trying to do something, and if you did something even slightly wrong, they would yell at you, and call you names like stupid, I've been called the B word at work. I developed really good relationships with my coworkers. The most enjoyable part of the job was when my manager left. It was like a breath of fresh air.
Pros
Free Lunches
Cons
Bad Management

Boring, but alright pay.
In-Shop Worker, Person in Charge (Former Employee) - Fort Atkinson, WI - November 30, 2023
Between 2-5pm, expect a lot of cleaning, bread making, and waiting for people to actually come in. As for management, halfway through my employment we got a new manager who would send people home upwards of three hours early to get extra money on his bonus. It was an immediate drop in quality of management, as I really enjoyed the previous manager, but the new one felt like a robot. If you needed to pay the bills, I'd recommend anything else but Jimmy Johns.
Pros
Free lunch, decent pay, and good coworkers.
Cons
Painfully boring sometimes, might get sent home early for no reason, and awful management.

Easy job
Driver (Current Employee) - Monument, CO - November 30, 2023
All around mgmt needs more integrity and accountability. The job is easy though. Deliveries are slow as we are often over staffed on driver. It is what it is.
