Commercial Dispatcher (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - November 15, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Most of the co workers are great What is the most stressful part about working at the company? You are expected to be available 24/7 What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Work environment is fine. Culture is really bad. They preach core values but Management doesn’t practice them What is a typical day like for you at the company? Lots of phone calls to crew, sales and customer service

Good place to work
Diesel Technician (Current Employee) - Sterling, VA - November 15, 2023
Not a bad place to work at all, great place to get some experience under your belt but tenure does not matter much and it feels like there is no room to move up in the company.

Horrible place to work at, if your looking for a longterm job or career do not work here
Moving Specialist (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - October 4, 2023
This is a horrible place to work at, the people who train you are extremely unprofessional, the company itself does not care for their workers what so ever, the scheduling is extremely awful , you never know what time you work the next day till the afternoon before or if you even work, this company care little for their workers, and string them along for years barely giving them hours or good pay, eventually they will pay you off with no other reason other then that work is slow and that the company itself is doing bad. The higher ups in the company treat you bad, and don’t bother to even help make a change in its work environment. If your looking for good job to make a career in do not work here, it’s a waste of time and ultimately will drive you under poverty.

If you’re looking for a career maybe look someplace else.
Truck Driver (Current Employee) - Sterling, VA - September 28, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? You’ll meet a lot of great people from all sorts of backgrounds. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? You’d be lucky to make 40hrs on a 6 day work week. You’re scheduled is all over the place. Sometimes you’ll work at 5am and the next day it could be 5pm. Pay is not great and the lack of hours doesn’t help either. Lots of people come in and out few stay. If you’re a student looking for a summer job this might be for you otherwise look elsewhere. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? You’ll get along with most of your coworkers. Your supervisors are pretty chill and easy going. Some jobs can be stressful but that’s kinda the nature of the moving business. What is a typical day like for you at the company? If you work in the warehouse expect a lot of boring and mundane tasks throughout the day. Sometimes there’s nothing to do for hours and you’ll find yourself trying to look busy with anything you can find. If you’re out on the field you might have an easy day or it can turn into a long stressful 12-14hr day. You never know.

Great atmosphere
Kitchen Manager (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - June 21, 2023
Awesome vibe with cool people to work with kids who are very kind. Management is pretty cool & the hardest part of the job is not wanting to go home everyday because you enjoyed it so much.

Jobs at JK Moving Services
You can be productive and contribute towards a team.
Certified Moving Consultant (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - May 5, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? There is an overall sense of pride in working at JK. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Long hours, very little promotion from within, a little "old school" What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It's all about growth and sales. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Wake up, check emails and Team messages, arrive early, work through lunch, attend many, many, many meetings, stay late and/or answer emails, texts, and Team messages at night.

Don't waste your time
Manager Schaffer (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - April 21, 2023
It seems they just fill positions with people who aren't motivated to work. The ones who have been there for awhile are frustrated with the kids they hire who can't find their rear end with two hands. If you are dumb enough to accept a position in this company, watch out for middle management; they have a tendency to slam you without pointing out what you're doing wrong. Then you're called in to sign your termination papers. And holidays; non-existent. Sure you get the "big" ones like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Labor Day, but all other holidays, you are working. It's understandable that this company has a mission to fill and not all holidays are observed, but they act as if they're on par with the medical, law enforcement and other industries that need 24/7 support, WRONG!
Pros
Free Breakfast once a month, other incentive rewards for company achievements; none of the politics of a bigger moving company
Cons
Minimal holidays off; poor middle management; hiring of "kids"

it’s okay but not the best
Packing Specialist (Former Employee) - Gaithersburg, MD - March 6, 2023
The hours are good at times during the summer but it gets really slow during fall/winter. The management there isn’t the best, they take a really long time to respond. They also mess up your hours and pay often. The people there are great but they gossip a lot.

Hard work, but a fun workplace
Mover/Packer (Former Employee) - Gaithersburg, MD - December 29, 2022
A lot of hard work and heavy lifting at times, it all depends on the type of moves you have been placed on. Some days are short and easy, and others are a 14 hr shift.

Account Executive
Account Executive (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - October 28, 2022
My time at JK was wonderful- a typical day of work included receiving inbound leads, following up, building out new business, and running appointments. Management was top notch. The move teams are also very skilled and renowned in the industry. I loved my time here and think about it regularly. I went into JK with a GED in moving and left with a doctorate. I developed many friendships at this company but believe the pay is staggered now due to exceptional sales people pushing the status quo causing commissions to be cut. In my opinion - this is a great place to start your career or end it if you are very connected. I find it hard to be a middle ranking sales person in this company but have nothing but great things to say about JK.

Get used to suprises
Professional Mover (Former Employee) - Sterling, VA - October 23, 2022
Need new payroll/HR team. Company poorly organized. Go to school. Get a real career. They have a bad history messing with pay in every way. You have to learn to stand up for yourself hear. I learned that the hardway. Save yourself the headache and avoid this place.
