JK talks love, but is full of backstabbing and scapegoating
Marketing Specialist (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – March 1, 2019
You will see their core values displayed throughout the building, but any employee with a concern or a desire for something to change is immediately labeled a problem. There is little accountability and when departments must rely on eachother, many departments do not feel the need to assist the other departments that rely on them. It requires a cooperative, interconnected business, but in reality each business division is only looking out for itself and it always willing to just point the finger. Many hypocritical messages coming from HR and higher management.
Employee (Current Employee) – Virginia – March 19, 2019
JK Moving Services offers a stable place to work, with room to grow and a competitive work place. The company offers great benefits and a profit sharing incentive. The management team in some departments is great, but could improve in other departments. Generally the work culture is positive at JK Moving, but I feel they could offer higher compensation/salary.
JK is a great company. Once you get into it and understand core values, you will be part of a JK family. They provide continuous training and opportunities to grow. Tons of benefits too. It is a hard working environment, but I have learned a lot and improved my physical and mental strength. It is good as a summer job, or full time job. I was lucky enough to spend 2 years before I had to leave USA.
Great team, hard working environment, opportunities to grow
Heavyweight lifting- for those that don’t like it 🙂
Sales (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – November 27, 2018
Management and HR terrible. Employees are scared to talk - scared they will get fired. Lots of nice people, Company used to be more like a family, then as it grew, it is more about the money and not even about the customer
Warehouse Helper (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – August 25, 2018
This is the perfect job for college students on summer vacation. The workplace is fun and energetic, hours are long, however all of it is paid. Pay is very good for a summer job, and training is provided and paid.
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) – Gainesville, VA – July 27, 2018
Don't ever expect management to stick their neck out for you.
Although the job culture is fantastic and everyone is very sociable, you will occasionally have days where a logistics nightmare keeps you late. Sometimes up to 4 hours. While you are compensated for this time you have no say in staying if you value your job, and you will get almost no notice that you won't be done until 10pm.
If you don't mind the prospect of working extra hours for more pay with no notice, this is the job for you
Driver/Mover/PC Tech/ Installer (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – July 5, 2018
The people are the best part. A variety of job choices within the company. The pay is decent. Paid time off, good vision, and dental insurance. Very affordable. Health care is a little steep if it’s for a family.
Moving Helper (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – May 22, 2018
There was a lot of manual labor for Household movers, but the co-workers were more personable and understandable. The work for Commercial was slow, boring, and the co-workers were less friendly. It seemed to me as though the management and administration would try to take advantage of the movers and drivers whenever they could make some more money by overscheduling when they could. If you get in with a driver or supervisor who likes you, you will have as many hours as you want.
Systems Engineer (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – January 30, 2018
There is a variety of work in IT area. Always something to learn in supporting or improving the infrastructure. Management is OK, and workplace culture is good. It`s a multinational company, and for me there was not a good experience communicating with some. Overall it`s a great company
Move Coordinator (Current Employee) – Sterling, VA – November 18, 2017
It is a good place to start, but once you feel that you got experience move on. Lack of communication and stabbing people in the back are champions. Weak training structures, team work, and management are more derective than supportive.
Very stable and successful company with friendly employees
Intern - Government Services and Move Management (Former Employee) – Sterling, VA – October 4, 2017
This company allows you to interact with customers consistently, with a constantly changing day-to-day. As with any moving company, you will find that the work is incredibly intensive during summer months, then dies down in the off season dramatically.
Administrator (Current Employee) – Sterling, VA – September 26, 2017
JK is currently growing by leaps and bounds. Unfortunately, the infrastructure to support this growth is way behind the curve. Systems are disjointed and don't communicate. There is a lot of duplication of work and manual processes in the back office that lead to inefficiencies and mistakes.
They will in time, likely get this fixed, but the systems need a major overhaul.
