Maintenance Electrician in Herndon, VA
on June 15, 2015
Great team, work well with all trades. Office building, no Data Center
3 days a week concentrate on the PM's for the month, which include panel boards, transformers, combo starter/disc switch, MCC buckets, F/NFSS, transfer switches. Voltages from 480/277 to 208/120V 3 phase systems. Answer any client calls on electrical, power out, lights out, elevator issues. Work with the building engineers on any electrical needs in the penthouse for the chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, etc. Escort outside contractors throughout the building to make repairs or for project work. Monthly test transfer switches and generators, quarterly test the 1.75KW generator with the PLC controlled switchgear for proper operation. Lighting rounds throughout the building on a weekly basis. Order light bulbs, parts, obtain material list for projects. Learned about EV Car chargers, installed 1 on site, obtained quotes to purchase more to be installed.

They constantly pick up new graduates so they can underpay them and overwork them. You have to bring your computer home with you nightly and over the weekend for "security purposes" but it's really just so you have no excuse not to be logging in during the evenings and weekends to finish the work that you can't finish during the week because they expect so much from each individual. Management acts like they're trying to lighten your workload if you're struggling but inevitably a few weeks later you end up with even more work than before.

They'll just lay you off. Without warning. They pay is decent. But I WOULD NEVER GO BACK. I "WORKED" FOR A JLL at the KCK/GM. They don't value the good workers, they value who kisses the most azzz
Control Systems Technician in Carteret, NJ

Terrible work life balance. The job itself is challenging and rewarding and you get to do lots of exciting and interesting things. You’ll be trained well and paid well but you’ll never have a life outside of work
Project Manager in Atlanta, GA

Company is good. Flexible remote work. Good pay and benefits. Good PTO. CEO is good at communicating. Interesting lines of business. Good training on DEI.

Interview Questions

Good place to work there are issues with the planner being extreamly nasty to you and managers not supporting you along with some coworkers, many tecnicians under qualified, way to much unneeded paperwork and the EAM system is the is the worse one I have ever used.

Shared on November 27, 2017

The Finance Manager asked me if I was good at handling the accounting details and analytical analysis, because he did not want to be bothered with this. He told me the position was temporary, that the contract would end in 9 months, and they would be up for renewal but it was not guaranteed. He also said that this was a small account and not too busy.
