Easy but low pay
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Amarillo, TX - November 20, 2023
Easy job, needs increased pay. While Management was terrible, the job wasn’t hard at all. A good college or high school job to have as it was flexible.

Jobs at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores
Sales Associate positionsPros and cons to all jobs
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Clinton, UT - November 14, 2023
The pay is not great, but the environment was fun, manager at the time had no compassion for anyone and only cared for himself. But work load was easy and explained, training was great, and other co workers were always willing to help out with questions or concerns

Good job
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Foothill Ranch, CA - November 13, 2023
Good job for an old person. Must join Team if you are bored and need extra cash to earn. $$$$$ too many task for one person to handle in a 4 hour shift.

Fun and chill
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Big Rapids, MI - November 8, 2023
Working there was fun and management was good. Pretty flexible with scheduling and would always work around classes. The hours were slim. The store was never too busy.

Low pay; no hours
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Norridge, IL - October 25, 2023
They'll overwork you and then suddenly cut your hours. Pay is ridiculously low all things considering. Management is very rude and plays favorites so don't expect your time off to be accepted if someone they favor asks (even if it's after you put yours in).
Pros
Discount
Cons
Everything Else

Pretty good first job, good learning experience
Part Time Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Virginia Beach, VA - October 23, 2023
Not as bad as a place to work as others may claim. Loved the team I got to work with. I knew nothing about sewing and fabric or other crafts that weren't fine art, but as time went on I actually learned a lot. My only real complaints- - There was always a shortage of staff, mainly for closing shifts where only two people were scheduled, MOD at the Cut Counter, and someone else at the register and no one else on the floor. Would get very hectic during holidays or really busy nights. - Hours were always getting cut by upper management

Fun workplace
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - New York State - October 17, 2023
Although there are always cons to working retail, I love being able to help customers by sharing my knowledge of different fiber arts like crochet and sewing. (The employee discount is also a plus)

Below Average
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Indiana, PA - October 10, 2023
One of the absolute worst jobs I have ever worked in my life. The pay is too low for the amount of work and stress that management constantly puts on you. Managers are often rude and put their work on you so they can do nothing.

I only worked there for the discount
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Webster, TX - September 27, 2023
The most enjoyable part was shopping or leaving for the day. The hardest part was not wanting to strangle a customer for being rude to you and it was generally old grandma’s that really pushed your buttons.

Fun until it wasn't
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Wichita, KS - September 21, 2023
My manager would make me feel so awful, she wouldn't respect me or my time off. When I did work she made my job he double hockey sticks, I loved working and communicating with the customers if it weren't for her and the poor pay I'd stay there forever

Was an easy job.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Corbin, KY - August 6, 2023
Typical day on the job was good when I had other employees or managers to help. The workplace culture was always a little stressful and not very organized in the work shifts. Hardest part of the job was trying to be at the register, doing the daily stock, and cutting the fabrics for your customers all at once without much help, can and was very, very difficult task to do.
Pros
Was a easy job to do.
Cons
Never got any breaks, Always the only employee on floor, Management, Poorly trained.

Repetitive and Underpayed
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Wisconsin - August 1, 2023
Corporate doesn't care about it's employees and would rather cut the store associates hours than take a cut in their own pay. Wages are horribly low if you are expecting a living wage. Only good if you are looking for a part-time position while in school or are retired.

Most magical place to work!!
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Las Cruces, NM - July 29, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The manager and my co workers were wonderful. It was one of the best jobs I've ever had. Imagine angels singing each time you enter the store where fabric and wonderful craft things live. Loved it! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Not too much stress, we all helped one another. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Happy Crafters. We all had similar interests. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You would be busy the entire shift, putting up product, helping customers, and working the cash register. The time flew by!

A study of disorganization
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Pleasant Hills, PA - July 22, 2023
interesting place to have a part time job. If you are a sewist, crafter, jewelry maker, cricut guru, etc. you might enjoy the job. The pay rate is not competitive.

Fun job; terrible managers
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Newark, DE - July 20, 2023
I loved my coworkers and the job itself was relatively easy and low stress, but the managers treated me like I was stupid. They were extremely rude and condescending.
