Lack of transparancy and poor management from administration.
Professor Assistant (Current Employee) –  Pleasant Hill, CAMay 17, 2018
Fiscal sustainability of JFKU is teneous. An average of 14-15 employees were layoff at the end of March 2018. Second year in a row of "Spring layoffs" by the current President. This year's fiscal problems appear more eminent given the President's announcement on the closures of the JFKU Berkeley Campus and both Concord and Oakland Counseling Centers. All are projected to end operations in June 2018. Morale on campus is low. Faculty and staff worry about job security. Students are fearful their program will be next to close or lose WASC or APA accreditation. Overall campus climate is of distrust and apprehension as higher Administration struggles with money problems and lack of transparency issues. Internally, many feel the institution is on life support and worry time is running out. Sad to see an institution like JFKU on the decline.
Pros
JFKU was a great place to work for faculty and staff alike, JFKU was a good choice for adult learners, JFKU Counseling Centers were solid community resources offering mental health services to children, families and adults.
Cons
Lack of transparancy, poor decision making and mismanagement by higher Administration.

Administrative Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Concord, CAMay 1, 2018
There is no communication in management. Then when they do make decisions they are not well thought out and they don't have contingency plans as they say they do.

Small school that does its best for students. Dedicated staff. By and large decent management, but it used to be better. It has become more corporate and less personal since it affiliated with National University.

JFK University is a positive environment. My supervisor was reliable and patient. I learned to be more patient with people who were demanding and not take it personally. It was an excellent opportunity to learn new skills in a work study position on campus. There was diversity in the workplace.
