I was temp who became and employee and I know several other people who were fortunate enough to become employees. I applied for a job on another team and my manager was extremely supportive. Everyone has a different experience. Take a chance, build relationships in the temp role and people will support you. The temp role may not become permanent but that doesn't mean other opportunities won't become available.
