Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  Waco, TXMarch 4, 2019
Poorly run company. Unrealistic expectations. Poverty-level pay. Low man on totem pole does the most and is the most valuable to the company and gets worst pay. Under valued. Over worked. Even discounts went from average to poor. Employee turnover is incredibly high. They can't keep employees. No surprise.
Pros
It's a paycheck.
Cons
Everything else.

Stessful place to work with all the nonsense they peddle
Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee) –  Saint Louis County, MONovember 11, 2018
Company only takes care of its employees when it wants to. Company only cares about sales and nothing else . Company thrives on personal favoritism . They talk high standards but mostly do not deliver what they are saying. Great products but sub standard operation in how they treat employees ...mens warehouse metality. Which is unfortunate
Pros
Great product
Cons
Treats employees disrespectfully

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER (Current Employee) –  Lexington, KYOctober 19, 2018
Good company to work for. meet new people every day. Fun to help men learn fashion and dress up to date. Hours for retail are ok. Management is very worried about small metrics. Really want to improve the "Quality" of our sales. Lots of Money can be made if you put your mind to it.
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons
Constant sale changes

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNSeptember 3, 2018
This was a nice place to work. If the company had offered a better pay scale for employees that had previous experience working in the men's clothing field, I would have worked there longer.
Pros
Relaxed environment
Cons
Low wages.

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  The Villages, FLJuly 17, 2018
After years as an employee I have discovered favoritism & competition that is not needed. We are taught to be team players but......

Often times the hours are long & list of jobs to be completed in one day are to much. Most stores are shorthanded. There are wonderful days when things go smoothly and there is no cut-throat but usually needs to be brought to others in the store.

Customers are great!!!

Jos A Bank, under the right leadership, is not a bad place to work.It is difficult to receive a raise or opportunities for growth, but if you are not planning to work there for long, it's a great place to make some quick money.

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  Pleasanton, CAMarch 23, 2018
This is a good place to work if you have the right manager. Dealing with customers for weddings can be stressful. Pay isn’t great, but if your a sales person you can make up for that in commissions

Jos. A Bank Has been a great company until recent buyout. Current hijackers could care less about what is right than a elephant stepping on an ant. Quality destroyed brand loyalties abandoned.

Met some fantastic people met some really disgusting excuses as well.
Pros
Next to none left
Cons
List too long Corporation, Employee Relations, Communication, Staff

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXJanuary 8, 2018
While the job itself isn't difficult, management is slow and painful to move or act on anything. Let's talk about it and give time for improvement but don't follow up with any of it. A sale of mine was returned and rang up under a different commissioned salesman and there were no repercussions. She was spoke to and told not to do that again. What kind of assurance is that for me? I had to make up the negative amount of the sale and for what? To support this evil lady? Not for me.
Pros
Not too much
Cons
Too many to list

Upper Management were constantly making changes, then going back on those changes, while never really talking with the staff of their stores. Men's warehouse management after the takeover expected Jos A Bank to easily shift to the way their company had worked while the clientele was vastly different.

A typical day at work is never the same, which is pretty good. The workplace is usually very professional when attending to the needs of guests and a little more laid back when associating with co-workers. Its a great place to learn about business and how to interact with people.

Sr. Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  Hoover, ALApril 7, 2017
The men's clothing was exceptional and well priced to attract and reatin customers.

The work day was typcial to working in retail.

Management could have been better at the lowest level.

Workplace culture was again typical to that of retail industry.

Did full management duties for a 2 million dollar store with upwards of 8 Employees. Upper management ties your hands to where you cant do anything. the buyout from men's wearhouse ruined the company.

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) –  Mesa, AZFebruary 23, 2017
I loved working and doing what I did but they pay very poorly and work you like a dog! I would only work here again for the discount on suits. Literally only apply if you can't find work anywhere else.
Pros
Employee discount
Cons
Awful pay and near to nothing benefits
