Superficial and Fake
6th/7th Math/Science (Former Employee) –  Harlingen, TXFebruary 26, 2019
They use Carnegie Learning and the Convey Seven Habits as designer brands for education. They will have representatives come to your class and say,”You can’t tell a child they are wrong”,and will request a workshop model, in which a teacher should teach for five mins and then children should be in workstations. I was teaching math and in math you must have a modeling/concrete style in order for kids to understand the material then going with a base of conceptual learning. Plus on top of that they have specialist that are basically teachers that don’t want to be in the classroom ,but feel as if they have the authority to tell you how to operate your class, even though they may not be as profiecent in that content area. It’s all a joke in which a professional teacher with over ten years of experience will feel as if they never taught and you are brand new to education. They care about numbers and grant money, and our more worried about numbers in seats then discipline and telling a child they can’t act in a inappropriate manner. Finally if a child does complain about a teachers classroom management instead of having a conference with the student and teacher to settle differences. They will write up the teacher with a discipline form once you get three you are out or will be force to resign. Education is becoming a joke and Jubilee is a snake in the grass for taking money out of tax payers pockets and filling there administrative wages as for under paying their staff and expecting more work than working for a public district. Finally as a result of being let go I have had many  more... sad and disappointed kids and parents in which I have made an impact on and wanna fight the district, but this won’t fix the beast which is Jubilee Academy.  less

5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Science Teacher (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXDecember 16, 2018
Being a teacher at Jubilee I had the benefit of guiding my own lessons according to Texas TEKS. I enjoyed the closeness of the administrative staff with campus staff. There were daily affirmations and displays of respect for professionals as well as for students.

Classroom management is constant. You have to be very flexible. The best part of the job is interacting with children on a daily basis. It is rewarding.

Sports Performance Coach (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXAugust 14, 2017
I worked there for a year. During my time there, the administration didn't show or give support to the teachers. There were no discipline policy. When student's left our school to go to a public school, their academics suffered. They were behind at least a grade level.
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
Poor management skills

Teacher for 4th & 5th Grade (Former Employee) –  San Antonio, TXJune 30, 2017
Materials and resources were sorely lacking. Didn't understand how a school was able to even open without phone systems or even wired internet. Teachers are great, but school definitely needs help when it comes to resources.

All-Star School
Teacher (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXMarch 29, 2017
Athlos Leadership Academy in Austin, TX is a great charter school for elementary and middle school students in the Austin area. Athlos does a great job of hiring stellar teachers and is working to develop a culture of academics, athletics, and leadership. The challenge is teacher salary. Athlos has trouble keeping great teachers because at any ISD, a teacher will make almost $10,000 more.
