Your vacation time is accrued every week you work. The longer you work there, the amount you accrue each week increases over time until you're capped off. If you don't take a lot of random days off, you can build up a nice amount of vacation time. Depending on your Department Head (some are awesome and some are jerks) you don't necessarily have to use your vacation days for Holidays. You can opt to take unpaid days off. This is a facility the definitely plays favorites, so if your manager likes you they will be accommodating. If they don't, they can give you a hard time about how you take your vacation.

If you will be working in a department that is closed on major holidays be prepared to use most of your earned time off for those holidays/days off. Although You might accrue about 15 paid days off per year, you will have to use 7 of them for the major holidays and then perhaps 5 sick days per year.... if you do the math, you’ll be left with 3 days to use for your vacation. Do your research.

Horrible, give you 6 hours per pay period (2 weeks) and ALL your time off comes out of this!!! Holidays, sick days, vacation, personal time all taken from PDO bank. Will NOT allow time off without pay!!!! Militant management!
