There is a lot of work with this company
ACCM (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXOctober 21, 2019
The company as a whole is a good company, as with any job there are a few bad apples that make the job much more difficult then need be. I would recommend this company but do your research prior to joining.
Pros
Hour lunch, building bonuses
Cons
Locations, time off, compensation for driving.

Nice view
Senior Developer Analyst (Former Employee) –  Red Bank, NJOctober 9, 2019
the view from the outside sitting area and the offices is beautiful. Right on the river in Red Bank

longevity at the company is a given, most people have been there for more than 8-10 years, some as long as 25.

Paralegal (Current Employee) –  Edison, NJOctober 2, 2019
No report. Just work hard and stay ahead of the storm. Time management and dealing with pressure are important. If you bruise easy this company is not for you. They are very good at what they do and will push you to the max.

Sales Consultant
Community Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Landover, MDSeptember 17, 2019
Need more communities, not very many in Maryland. Need to stop doubling up sales people, cant make any money. If you don't mind working every weekend and holidays, a good way to make a decent income.

Manager to much turnaround
Community Manager (Former Employee) –  MarylandSeptember 11, 2019
New management has no concern on quality of work and budget only homes competed before allotted time and give no support when asking to help with a high volume community

Fast paced. Sressful job. Good people to work for.
Homeowner Service Manager, (Former Employee) –  South Valley CA.August 30, 2019
Very fast pace. Time management skills are a must and you definitely have to be a self starter. Have to be able to deal with every personality type there is. Must be able to deal with and resolve conflicts. about 85% of the homeowners are great. 12% are difficult.
3% are impossible. Working with the different Trades, about the same. Management, they are very performance and quality driven and at the same time when I was there, they were awesome. Some of best people I have ever worked for and with. They were good about giving you "Atta boys" for a job well done. The most rewarding thing about the job is getting the 100% satisfaction score from the homeowner survey. The hardest part of the job is scheduling and rescheduling. Have to coordinate times and dates with the homeowners and trades. Have to deal with a lot of "No Shows" and "Cancellations." Also being on call 24/7 for a week at a time every 4-5 weeks.
Pros
Good benifits, no micro managing if you do your job.. Good people.
Cons
H.S.R. is a very stressful posisition.

Huge waste of time, VP all about nepitism
Sale Associate (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLAugust 24, 2019
I was promised many opportunities from both the VP of sales and Sales manager, However in the two years I worked there, with a perfect attendance and sales record, none of the promises ever materialized. Nepitism runs rampant. The Sales Manager and VP if sales are two faced and gossip to other sales-associates about their own team. K Hovnanian is a fine company however the current Sales Management will certainly waste your time.
Pros
K Hovnanian Homes builds a beautiful home
Cons
The entire Sales Management Team

Stressful place to work dor people that don't care about you as a person
Business Systems Analyst (Former Employee) –  Matawan, NJAugust 24, 2019
This place has no interest in you as a human being. You are micromanaged but not given clear directions on what your responsibilities are. I was never treated so unfairly in my career.

Loved my co-workers, management full of empty promises
New Home Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJuly 29, 2019
Difficult industry to work in. However, seniority was applied here (understandable) and new hires were placed in undesirable, poorly located communities. The 90 day sales goal is followed. It should be adjusted to community’s characteristics and history. High turnover.
Most enjoyable part of job was co-workers and clients.

But that’s when you make the most money
Real Estate Agent (Former Employee) –  New JerseyJuly 18, 2019
Overall the management was very good. I just had a bad manager on my last job site. There’s a lot of drama in that office and competitiveness and fighting a monks the sales people. This is nothing new in the real estate industry though.

An excellent place to refine your communication skills
Construction Management Intern (Current Employee) –  West New York, NJJune 28, 2019
Staff is very tightly knit and the upper management is very qualified in how they approach projects. Communication between interns and upper staff can be a bit better but overall everyone is helpful and concise. If there is one thing to be learned at this company its that everyone's input counts and one should be firm and confident in their observations while working on a project. Communication is key and the company's upper staff does a great job of executing this.

Terrible culture
Land Planner (Current Employee) –  Irvine, CAApril 20, 2019
Terrible company to work for. You go to the Irvine office and all you see are long faces. No one's happy here. Clowns in Arizona that supervise Irvine office are typical Monday morning quarterbacks. They get paid big dollars to play second guessers. They don't bring anything to the table, just criticize actions. There is no long range planning or goals. All mismanagement cares about is their bonuses.

Average work place
Director of Marketing (Current Employee) –  Boynton Beach, FLApril 7, 2019
The people I work with are great! The national policies and procedures are tight which do not allow for much flexibility. The hardest part of the job is approvals - take too long to go through the chain of command.

Find another builder to work for
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  New JerseyMarch 11, 2019
Management is terrible!! Not experienced enough to manage seasoned sales people. Big old boys club up at corporate. People get reported to HR and instead of getting fired after multiple reports they get promotions instead. They micromanage on a daily basis making the day miserable. Pay is decent for salespeople but you have to put up with a lot so it’s definitely not worth it.

Work for another national builder ... there are plenty out there that pay more than Khov. They make your goal unattainable and then if you do hit it they will restructure your contract so that you never make more. Other National builders have no caps on commissions. Khov stock is less than $1 per share when other builders out there, NVR, Toll, Pulte are well over $45 per share. Other builders give one weekend off per month and higher base salaries. Salespeople were awesome.
