Drug test new hires and im sure internerns and possibly volunteers. They do not random test in calif. Its against ca state law unless your injured or they have significant reason to suspect your on drugs. Thats the only time law allows. Driving jobs may differ, unsure

I see your question is in regards to employees but it may be the same as what I have just experienced as a patient. Apparently they have a zero tolerance rule.
I just started insurance with Kaiser in Portland. I have been taking ADHD medication for years. My new doctor said they will drug test even THC is included in their list of drugs that will disqualify a patient for prescriptions of any ADHD medication. I was shocked and find it hard to believe that they would take away a mental health drug because of THC in the system despite it being legal in the state. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Yes, I was told that they test to federal levels and if you don't have a medical card and they find the you fail and aren't eligible for rehire for a year
