Working at Kaman Aerospace
Senior Applications Engineer (Former Employee) –  Windsor, CTJuly 28, 2018
I worked for Kamatics which was the specialty bearing/components divisions. Overall it was an excellent place to work. Our customers were everyone in the Aerospace industry and it was our job to give them that confidence to contract with us.

Kamatics was a very forward thinking company who cared greatly about their employees.
Pros
Reduced Lunches, Clean working environment
Cons
Would could be somewhat repetitive at times.

Tech 1 (Current Employee) –  Middletown, CTJune 28, 2018
bad team leader and ethics, workers are working in a sweat box trying to make rate. All they care about is the amount you put out not how hard you are trying. Management doesn't care about they're employees. Raises are not enough to cover the increase in living.
Pros
benifits
Cons
bad team leaders

Not a place to work.
Assembly Line Worker (Current Employee) –  Middletown, CTJune 27, 2018
Worst place to work !!!
Use to be a great company to work at till the new president came in. Management is a joke it's all about the numbers. It's a very hostile environment because team leaders have put employees against employees. No one trusts anyone. Cell supervisor lies and lies.
Pros
Pay is okay
Cons
Everything else

Planner / Analyst (Former Employee) –  Bloomfield, CTJune 20, 2018
Kaman AVMRO division has been going through major reductions in force over the last year. The composites division has been completely dissolved (on paper) and the new mission appears headed back to it's helicopter manufacturing roots.
Pros
Kaman offers competitive employee benefits
Cons
Kaman is a top heavy organization

Quality Specialist (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLMay 30, 2018
Employees not held accountable for there actions. Management relies on the hard working employees to pick up the slack of the lazy employees. Company offers Tuition reimbursement, but when you submit your receipts they give you an excuse why they are not going to reimburse you.

Paid lunch

Interesting place to work.
Aircraft Assembler (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLApril 4, 2018
Management is stuck in the dark ages, rarely listens to employee ideas, and treats people like undesirable... unless one is in the clique. Most general employees are like family and work well together to fufill sometimes unreasonable expectations. Hardest part of job is juggling how to finish a task when there are multiple Supervisors working on the same project, as one will want it done their way and another their own way.
Pros
Nice place to work if you get the right boss.
Cons
The right bosses don't last long though

Quality Manager and company FAA Liaison (Former Employee) –  Bloomfield, CTApril 3, 2018
I enjoyed working at Kaman. I wish I had stayed there. The company has a good culture. Everyone says hello and smiles. The long term employees have interesting stories about Charlie Kaman. The only negative is they are a bit top heavy in the corporate entity.
Pros
Friendly environment, Good pay and benefits
Cons
A bit top heavy

Strategic Program Manager (Director Level) (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLMarch 7, 2018
Choose not to comment. It has been some time since I worked at Kaman and things maybe different now. When I was at Kaman we had a management change and I did not work with the new manager enough to comment.

Challenging work but made easier by the collaborative nature of the work force.
Project Engineer (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJanuary 31, 2018
Work was extremely challenging given the fact that the customer had their own Quality Assurance representative on-site. Having said this, the work was made easier by being able work very closely with the on-site Manufacturing Engineer representative. Mutual collaboration paid off handsomely in resolving a number of product design issues right on the production floor.
Pros
Everyday was a new challenge.
Cons
None.

Middletown CT: Not recommended for Engineers
Engineer (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTJanuary 27, 2018
This is an old company run by old management people trying to make it to retirement. Needless to say they haven't kept up with the times. You're engineering work will largely be keeping very old military products alive in manufacturing and dealing with obsolescence issues. There is no R&D budget, save for RFP's and the company has not won a contract for a new product for decades.
This company is a great place for admin, accounting and government contracts people. Anyone else is just there because they've racked up 8 weeks of vacation a year or are paid more than they're really worth or just want to coast to retirement.
Pros
Some of the old stuff is neat to see
Cons
Depends on your IQ or ambition.

Quality Assurance Inspector (Former Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJanuary 1, 2018
Not a place you want to lay down roots. The pay is below scale. I made more as a contractor working here. From hirer up to the people on the floor, they will lie to your face while stabbing you in the back. They talk a great job but have no intentions of living up to it!!!

Work tasks can vary from day to day. The environment was high paced, production line style, with daily requirements clearly communicated. Ability to move to more technical positions was possible.
