A dependable employee for many years (Former Employee) - Charlton, MA - December 15, 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPre-2009 - The culture was perfect, where you had a sense of purpose, and everyone pulled together with great respect toward one another. Once Lean was adopted, the culture started to deteriorate. Although efficiency got better regarding meeting customer demands. However, the true issue is that Continuous Improvement and the "True North" journey are truly about the respect of the people. Respect for people is the key to a lean-driven culture! That was lost when respecting employees and giving them a sense of value diminished. That is not the true spirit of the Lean World. Management made it about the numbers and their spreadsheets and forgot about the true value of their people. The development was great for a bit. But it truly depended on if you were in the right clique. I was given opportunities to grow. That I am thankful for and always will be. But management acted like managers and not true leaders. There is a difference between managing and leading. The most respectful thing KS management can do is learn to be leaders. "A bad system will beat a good person every time.”–W. Edwards Deming. Cteam - Listen to the people, respect the people, learn to have empathy. Get out of the mentality of blaming, you have lost too many great valuable employees. There are many organizations waiting for KS employees...They are valued and can offer a lot to the world. Thank you for allowing me to learn how not to be classified as "Management" and how to lack empathy. “Leadership is not so much about technique and methods as it is about opening the heart. Leadership is -
Pros

Karl Storz Endoscopy America is a great place to work. They have amazing benefits, very supportive management, growth opportunities - like to promote from within, one of the best work cultures. You definitely feel appreciated. Many employee lunches, fun events, bonuses, etc...

Good people, Good purpose.
Marketing Manager (Current Employee) - El Segundo, CA - December 6, 2021
The people make KARL STORZ what it is. I can trust my co-workers, we have fun, we look out for each other and we all work hard. My management is excellent, inclusive and fair, although it may vary by department. It's nice to know your work has a real effect on someone (a patient) at the end of the day, rather than working on some garbage consumer technology that is just filling up landfills on the planet and polluting our environment.
Pros
People, Pay, Benefits, Purpose
Cons
Long Hours... you have to pace yourself and know when to say no.

Ok
Buyer (Former Employee) - Southbridge, MA - October 18, 2021
It was OK. Very corporate but lots of opportunities to develop skills and move into other positions. PTO, benefits and work life balance were great. Successful company with good job security.

Good Company, Lots of overtime, Company will not hire more people to reduce backlogs
Technician (Former Employee) - Charlton, MA - September 9, 2021
You better like working every mandatory Saturday, if not you will be charged sick time. Upper management is paranoiac of loosing their jobs and push people creating a cut throat environment. This causes quality issues especially when people rush building medical equipment. Cutting corners to hit production numbers is not the way to go.
Pros
Good Benefits, Good PTO
Cons
Too much overtime, no time for family

Culture is toxic and emotionally unstable
Unknown (Former Employee) - Charlton, MA - July 27, 2021
There is a clique in upper management and the C- team is dysfunctional. Reach out to former employees to receive the truth. Ask why long tenure employees left!
Pros
Benefits and the assemblers
Cons
Lack of growth, narcissistic bullying, threats, public humiliation, email humiliation, lack of respect for the most important people, lack of consistency with HR, silent bullying, threats

Bad management and micromanaging employees
Evaluator (Former Employee) - Charlton, MA - December 5, 2020
When I began working for KARL STORZ it was an amazing company. However, things went downhill around 2018 and management had completely changed within the company. Supervisors micromanage, but somehow are not available when you need help with something or have a question. The only pro to working there is good benefits. The pay is not enough for the amount of work you do and the constant overtime that is required. You're going to be required to do things that should be done by your supervisor. Lastly, if you're looking to learn more so you can be promoted, its most likely not going to happen. They promise for years they will cross train you. Only cross train you partially, and then say you need it all to be promoted and will expect you to work on what you were partially trained to do.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Micromanage, overtime, bad pay

Not a well ran operation in Auburn
Shipper (Former Employee) - Auburn, MA - November 25, 2020
There are great benefits with this company. The work is not hard. I feel the management needs to be more experienced and professional. They hire a lot within which is good although they have a lot to learn when it comes to safety and well being of their employees. They are big on talking about "One team one roof" but the disrespectful way that management belittles their employees is not working as a team but more working for a dictatorship. If you have a mind of your own don't work for them. They like robots that will go along with their lies and the picture they want to paint. Not the reality of the workplace.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Poor leadership and HR team

Could Be Great
Associate (Current Employee) - Auburn, MA - November 19, 2020
My time here has been alright. The benefits are nice. 3 weeks time off when you start, which goes up a week every 5 years. Free coffee, nice breakroom. They have an open market in case you forget your lunch. No great work/life balance. Constant changes to overtime and schedule with hardly any advance notice. I would say this place could be great, but the management team is pretty awful. They don't do anything until things get real bad, then they sort of slap a bandaid on the problem and hope its enough.
Pros
Benefits and PTO
Cons
Management is terrible
