KARNA is a small company that works hard to keep its employees happy and taken care of. We had frequent team meetings and company meetings, which help create a culture since we all worked in different campuses.

Great place to work. They treat their employees well. The management works closely with their staff to develop career plans and then works with them to fully execute those plan. That is very nice to have management that cares about an employees career.

Karna – company lacking standards and integrity
Clinical Analyst (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCJuly 9, 2018
This review is for the company Karna LLC, headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Working with NIOSH at the CDC, Karna is responsible for managing financial resources (American tax dollars) for the Responders and Survivors of the World Trade Center Health Program.

Karna has been providing services to federal government contracts 10 years (according to their website). Karna’s mission statement includes: providing high value professional service, focus on integrity and excellence, and partnership with communities; however, Karna has not met these standards for the World Trade Center Health Program.

Karna fails to provider leadership to their staff, fails to lead with integrity, and doesn’t understand moral values. Karna disregards their responsibility to sub-contractors and affiliates, which leaves the sub-contractor to perform as desired. Meeting basic functions such as, payroll has no oversight.

Karna is designated a “small business” and is afforded the rewards and benefits the United States government grants a “small business”. The actions of Karna’s executive staff prove to be undeserving of this classification. Engaging with and holding a sub-contractor to good business practices and standards is not a virtue considered by Karna.

The American tax payer and the people who died from the World Trade Center deserve higher standards. Karna’s behavior is shameful for Americans who died in the World Trade Center and those suffering from illness and conditions related to the tragedy.

While the World Trade Center tragedy had an impact on the world, the tragedy occurred on
more... American soil. New York is in the United States of America. The World Trade Center Health Program should not be represented or administered by a foreign company where the owners and leadership do not understand American values and culture.  less
Pros
Company has government contract work leading to job possibilities
Cons
Karna owners and leadership are a poor representation, for Responders and Survivors, of the 9/11 tragedy.

Stay Away
Claims Processor (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJune 18, 2018
HR does nothing to support the staff, until it is too late. There is no room for growth and no accountability for mangers or hr reps. Work the lower level employees like slaves with no incentives. Management speaks to employees as if they are children and does not feel the need to work along side the team. Employees are expected to do their job without the tools necessary to be successful in completing the tasks at hand. Horrible experience from beginning to end, office environment was chaotic and hostile.
Pros
benefits were ok, coworkers friendly
Cons
mangement, hr department, system issues

It's a paycheck but there is no opportunity for growth
Consultant (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJune 15, 2018
It is an okay place to work. There is no employee engagement and no team atmosphere. You will never go to lunch with your manager or your team, there are no holiday parties, and no summer picnics. If you're lucky, there is leftover food from a meeting that was catered for management. Employees who aren't managing are treated like second class citizens. Professional development such as trainings, seminars, and conferences are non-existent except for a select few folks. Working at Karna will get you a paycheck but you more than likely will stagnate in your role. There is no opportunity for career growth here. Doing a really good job here will get you a 2.5% raise.
Pros
Benefits are pretty decent
Cons
There are NO perks

Hard work, dependable coworkers are there if you want to do well. Won't hesitate to let you go if they can get someone better. Saw a few people quit or fired, but if you can work hard and be indispensable, they will take care of you.

Awesome Job
Senior Business Process Analyst (Current Employee) –  Columbia, MDJanuary 24, 2018
This job is nothing like I have ever done, it has given me the flexibility to learn more about coding than other jobs that I have had to expand my skills and provide a greater understanding of the healthcare industry. It has expanded my opportunities within the healthcare market and also allowed me to help provide care to those that gave so much.
Pros
Great co-workers, good pay and very relaxed working environment.
Cons
Moved from another location in the country with no moving expense reimbursment.

Karna Lacks Structure & Integrity
Bookkeeper (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJuly 1, 2017
Karna fails to hold upper management/project managers accountable for their failure to manage their responsibilities. For this to be a project based company, Karna lacks the structure necessary to successfully manage contracts for their primary client, the CDC. There is also a lack of structure in the communication, expectation, and direction of intercompany personnel. Without proper structure, Karna will continue to fail financially and have a constant revolving door of employees.
Pros
Gained insight on government contracting and consulting
Cons
Lack of structure and integrity; Management lacks understanding and compassion

Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJuly 1, 2017
Karna fails to hold upper management, directors and/or project managers accountable for their failure to properly manage their responsibilites. If Karna doesn't find a way to implement REAL structure, they will continue to suffer financially and have a constant revolving door of employees.

Do not work for this company!! Waste of time!
Public Health Analyst (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJune 28, 2017
Karna is full of overpaid upper management staff who don't care about their employees and have rude, arrogant, and nasty attitudes. They are not getting much new work. Upper management isn't there for their employees. They employ people who proclaim to be "senior management" and pay them tons of money only for them to constantly degrade each other and their employees while not benefitting the company. They just blame lower level employees for their shortcomings. Low pay, terrible benefits, lack of communication and lack of care for employees. Beware!
Pros
It's a job....that's about it!
Cons
Terrible upper management from CEO down to Senior level management.

Senior Support Specialist (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAJune 8, 2017
Karna LLC is a competitive contracting company providing opportunities to not just employees to get the task done, but employees they BELIEVE in. The company provides interactive activities to engage ALL employees on different CDC campuses as well providing encouragement and motivation throughout the remainder of each employee's working contract.

Karna works steadfast to provide ample amounts of opportunities for existing employees once a working task prier has been completed and a new assignment is needed for the employee. Contracts can run from 6 moths - 5 years. Regardless your Project Manager will work endlessly to make sure all employees are taken care of first.

There is an incredible amount of flexibility so long as deliverables are done on time and done well. The rapid growth of the company has resulted in a very busy environment that may not be suitable for everyone, but as a result there are endless opportunities for new work and for professional development.
