Company was a family oriented company, it has went downhill
Company has lost 50% of it's staff in the past two years. The turnover is across many offices in various states. I had a work life balance until at least one person a month were resigning. They were not hiring replacements, therefore, we all got more work.
Pros
Work from home twice a week
Cons
High health care costs for very expensive

Work life balance.
Work-life balance is at the heart of The Kellen Company. It has an enduring commitment to talent development, with unique initiatives like the “CEO for One Month” program.

It invests heavily in training: In 2017, 100% of applicants for the annual training scholarship got funding. Women are encouraged to explore leadership and benefits are top-notch.

Do Not Work Here
This company is absolutely horrible. Do not work here. There is turnover almost weekly and the rest of the employees must absorb the extra work. The managers are even worse and have no training. They will pin things on you when it was their fault. They do not know how to communicate let alone be a manager. The benefits are awful and only select few who are favored by managers and VPs can work remotely. VPs do not care about anything but the bottom line and have no clue what employees do day to day. The company is also clearly losing money rapidly.
Pros
Free Lunch Sometimes
Cons
Benefits, Management, Pay, Awful Work Life Balance

The company is a nightmare
People leave weekly. They are inefficient and focus on minor issues to target people who don't conform. They lose clients and replace loss by buying other companies. The CEO is horrendous and has no insight. His son has destroyed the company. DC is the worst location.

Good place great people
I enjoy working at Kellen. My manager makes it a fun place yet challenging place to work. I feel that my personal development has improved and I look forward to future growth within the company.

Decent place to work.
Lots of nice people but so overworked it was hard to take time to get to know coworkers. Growth opportunities are there but general day-to-day work precludes learning and opportunities.
Pros
Not for more experienced employees; company struggling with revenue.
Cons
Employees are general spread too thin, poor work/life balance, only select employees get remote opps, ESOP pretty much nonexistent even though touted, great people often leave and some dead wood remains.

Senior Management needs vast overhaul
Senior management needs more women. It's very "boys club" with older mentality. Nepotism is prominent and there are way too many VP and Sr. VPs. Not sure why a company needs so many managers. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Admin and meeting staff is grossly overworked and underpaid considering the demanding needs of the client.

Not the best place to work at this time, but perhaps when some of the old guys retire and younger talent is promoted, things will change.
Pros
Decent benefits and PTO
Cons
Low salaries compared to workload and expectations.

Going down fast
Unfortunately despite many attempts to bring concerns to senior leaders, they have demonstrated that they simply do not care about employees.

The CEO is bent on promoting his unqualified, immature, and tyrannical son. Clients are leaving and apathy among employees is getting worse and worse.
Pros
There are a lot of good, hard-working people who truly care about their clients
Cons
Senior-most leaders (CEO/CFO) care only about themselves.

Flexible work environment and work-life balance
Kellen can be a good place to work, however there is no career path for Controllers and there is a significant disparity in knowledge and skills among the 20+ controllers and not much difference in pay. The flexible working hours and the ability to work remotely are great benefits.

Too much favoritsm
If you are not a family member or one of the favored few, you will not succeed. You are at the whim of your supervisor, if you have a horrible one, the experience will be the same. There is no support from management, and then you get blamed for not succeeding. The pay structure is terrible, the review structure is terrible. The only ones who benefit are the VPs.
Pros
work from home
Cons
favoritism, nepotism, sexism, scapegoating

Kansas City Office
Can't speak for other offices, but the Kansas City office is great. Everyone has basically worked for at least a decade here. That shows that they like the company and their Job. Kansas City is very personal. Management oversight is low, so there is no micro managing. VERY LAID BACK. Which is fine because everyone is a subject-matter-expert at what they do. Don't really need oversight when you've been working in the industry and with a client for 10+ years. I'd recommend to work here. Just might be the best place I have worked yet.
Pros
Generous time off, flexible work life, good office culture
Cons
Cross-Training, Even work distribution

Kellen Review
Workplace culture is terrible at Kellen. Management is horrible. They set you up for failure by giving you unattainable goals. There is a huge wage gap between women and minorities vs white men.

Ability to work from home

Not a good place to work
I was an intern at Kellen it wasn’t a good experience. They give you a lot on your plate (which is fine) but for your pay, it’s not worth it. Overall, your coworkers are nice and fun to be around and upper-management is not run well.
Pros
Sometimes you get free bagels and lunches
Cons
Horrible pay, bad environment
