Foster Care Case Worker, Assumption, IL - November 30, 2017
Kemmerer Village is a Presbyterian home for children (it has a residential facility, administration staff, nursing staff, teachers, pastor, clinical health staff, and a foster care program). It is a non-for profit agency that serves children and their families, who DCFS or court has involvement with. The staff are wonderful people. It was more like a 'family environment', than a corporate environment. I felt cared for and valued by my coworkers, but the requirements demanded by DCFS and the courts were numerous and the cases could be stressful. I truly wish I could have been able to remain working there, but my family needs me and I needed a less stressful environment. The only real job advancement is if you had your master's degree and wanted to become a therapist or manager of a department.
