NICU Staff RN (Current Employee) –  Bakersfield, CAMay 17, 2018
Aside from being the least paid RN in the county, the unit staff unapproachable, and high turn over rates. Love my job, wish there wasn't so much politics and more education opportunities.

Job security and great health benefits and retirement
RN (Current Employee) –  Bakersfield, CAApril 27, 2018
Great teamwork by colleagues made it easy going to work everyday. Really need each other to survive in the department. Low pay , no raise for years is demoralizing, but thinking about the benefits and retirement made it worthwhile.
Pros
As an employee with health insurance with kern medical, you pay nothing if you have surgery, great
Cons
Always short, working without break manyt tmes

Patient Access Representative (Former Employee) –  Bakersfield, CAJanuary 24, 2018
On a typical day at work we saw about 100 plus patients a day. I had to learn to move fast and efficiently as possible to accommodate patients needs. Management made many attempts to get all departments on the same page, at times it seemed impossible. Only thing that made my job hard there was the frequent computer issues due to outdated software. Overall working there was rewarding and truly enjoyable. Being able to help others and feel appreciated truly made me feel valued.
Pros
Days, hours, pay
Cons
system, Supervisor knowledge, training

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Bakersfield, CADecember 30, 2017
Dont intend to stay here unless you like to be treated as a low class nurse in this environment. Lots of favoritism from management and if you arent from the philipines be prepared to get the tail end of assignments or do more work. Not everyday is bad but noticed some managers pick on people and are afraid of the philipinos so they dont get picked on and hide their errors or laziness and blame others
Pros
Food available, compassionate nurses
Cons
Homeless, and drug dealers

Unprofessional Management
RN Staff Nurse (Former Employee) –  Bakersfield, CADecember 6, 2017
The human resources here hires people because they are buddies rather than allowing a person with the skills needed to be hired. Therefore, you are constantly doing the jobs of others. The management team is clueless and have no business trying to get after staff when most staff members have more experience than they do. More than half of the associates speak broken English yet that seems to be no problem, however every other employee is expected to speak a creditable form of Spanish. They pay pennies and work you to the bone and it is just simply not worth it.

Registered Nurse (RN) (Current Employee) –  Bakersfield, CANovember 15, 2017
Underpaid, over worked, not appreciated. Nurses have many demands put on them and not given the proper tools to succeed. Lowest wages across entire hospital compared to other hospitals in town.

Poor workplace due to poor management
Building Service Worker (Current Employee) –  Bakersfield, CAAugust 1, 2017
This place would be a decent place to work if management and the assistant director would stop trying to micromanage the employees, stopped catering to and playing favorites and pay was fair or at least paid well for what the job actually is, their union is a joke and caters to the managers and supervisors rather than the employees. There is no communication between employees due to management rushing everyone. Above all managenent needs to be overhauled, get rid of the constant micromanaging and trying to find the mistakes and focus on what's being done right rather than focusing on the wrong and never addressing what's right.
Pros
Good people (employees)
Cons
Management!!!
