Journeyman mechanic (Current Employee) –  Seattle, WAOctober 27, 2017
As a mechanic the work is challenging and interesting. state of the art vehicles with complex, computer controlled systems make the days go by quickly. Training opportunities could be better considering the complexity of the work but can be sufficient if one stays aware of the opportunities by monitoring e-mail. announcements..

Benefits are great, state retirement, up to 6 weeks vacation a year full medical, dental vision care and others. Working environment varies depending on location, but is generally less stressful than a private company.

Great part time pay with option to work full time.
PT Transit Operator (Former Employee) –  Seattle, WAOctober 16, 2017
All transit operators start as part time and are guaranteed 12.5 hours a week. Usually, there are opportunities to add hours on a daily, unscheduled basis. Operating public transit is an extremely safety sensitive job and is not recommended for anyone who is uncomfortable driving in urban traffic on a daily basis. A clean driving record is required; no mobing violations or negligent accidents.
Pros
Under labor contract can pick work based on seniority
Cons
Varying start times and work schedule

Full-Time Transit Operator (Former Employee) –  Seattle, WAAugust 2, 2017
A typical day at work is driving a route for over ten hours and then an extra tripper route at the beginning or end of my day. Management was helpful to a point. My fellow bus drivers were very helpful in keeping up my morale and keeping me in check. The hardest part of the job was dealing with unruly passengers, but I became an expert at it.
Pros
You are your own boss. Great pay and benefits.
Cons
Tough schedules, little help from management, and lots of unruly passengers.

Corrupt Management
Full Time Transit Operator (Former Employee) –  Atlantic BaseMarch 21, 2017
Wages are comparatively good, but this is not a good place to work. Management doesn't have your best interest or welfare in mind. There is a lot of racial animosity, bias, and reverse discrimination, so keep records of everything, document and report incidents however minor in order to protect yourself when the time comes.

It was my job to drive a 60ft bus in rush hour traffic, follow DOT and RCW laws while providing excellent customer service. I followed my run-card along with dealing with accident reports and bus safety.
