It depends on the job. I got hired as a courtesy clerk(bagger) at 14, you have to be 16 to be a cashier, and 18 to work with the more dangerous stuff, like ovens and knives.
Up in Alaska, it was 16 years of age for work and you have to be 16, not turning 16.
