Good for a first time job if you like working nights
Specimen Accessioner/Data Entry (Former Employee) –  Tucker, GAOctober 10, 2019
If you are looking for a job at night, this is a good place to be. Just wear headphones and keep your mouth shut, and you will get along with most of the folks there. BEWARE OF JOYCE!!!

Good lab experience for beginners in an overly stressful environment; not recommended as a career.
Specimen Accessioner (Current Employee) –  Bristol, PASeptember 19, 2019
A starting point for life science undergraduates looking to gain familiarity in a laboratory setting. A highly stressful and chaotic work environment that becomes routine over time. Management constantly stresses production goals; similar to an assembly line. No time between tasks--expected to be constantly busy and working at an optimal pace. Not recommended as a career.

If you have PTSD, they don't care & won't make accommodations. Work elsewhere. One of the most cliquish/immature environments I have Ever worked in and I worked security at a night club. Accessioners do not get paid enough for all the work they do.
Pros
Shift deferential
Cons
Everything else.

This job is not for someone who has kids
Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Raritan, NJJune 21, 2019
I worked 3rd shift. Nearly everyone who got hired with me quit this job. Eventually, so did I. The job was easy but very unprofessional. Lots of favoratism and lots of gossip. Everyone speaks different languages and you never know whos talking about you. Very unfair , if you worked fast you will get the most work. Other people will get less work or the easy work. Too much favoratism. They expect you to work over time. And if you didnt, they will make a face. No life here. None at all and the pay sucks. ! Supervisors were cool but that was about it.

Terrible workplace
Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Hollywood, FLMay 7, 2019
I worked in the Hollywood location and I was one of the best people that they had. I chose to leave due to lack of management professionalism. There is a very bad favoritism issue and the hours are a lie. It's from 6pm -4:30 am. Timi smokes more than she works and Viven can care less about helping anyone. If you have kids or any type of life please avoid this place. Please.

Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Hollywood, FLMay 1, 2019
This place sucks. Toooo stressful and they stab u in the back. For them to keep you..have to process 76 specimens an hour without errors . they have their fave people who get all the easy soecimens . and the people they dont like. They get all the urine and the packs that take more time to process and pour off.

Not the greatest work culture for African-Americans in the Accession department. You'll get hired quick if you know someone or have family there. You (mainly African Americans) will get fired quick/unfairly if you stand up for what is right. Document every conversation...seriously!

Labcorp never again
Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Florida State, FLMarch 18, 2019
Labcorp does not seem to care about the lives of their employees. For people who work at Labcorp the work/life balance is basically all work. Labcorp department was given mandatory overtime

Horrible; Honest review!!
First off the hours they advertise on indeed is INCORRECT. They advertise 6pm-2am other than that you are working until 4am or later than that. If you have school, children or another job this is not the place for you. The pay is horrible for the amount of work you are doing.

The atmosphere is so tense Everyone is so unhappy there and you can tell.

Management is petty.

First off the hours they advertise are INCORRECT. They tell you 6pm-2am or 7pm-1am but there will be more times than others that you are working until 4am. If you have school, children or another job this is not the place for you. The pay is horrible for the amount of work you are doing.

Management is petty. They don't do anything but gossip and when the work load is super heavy they will help for about an hour then disappear.

There are plenty other jobs out here that start off way more where you won't have to put up with this nonsense. I am not sure about the other PSCs but if you take a job at the lab by the airport. I am sure you won't take that place for long.

Fun environment but overworked and lack of leadership
Specimen Process Specialist Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Dublin, OHNovember 28, 2018
I enjoyed working at LabCorp and didn't mind the hours at first because I needed the money, but I wasn't expecting it to be overworked this long of a period... I eventually got tired and had no work/life balance. The employee turn over rate was crazy. Don't try to remember their names unless they've stayed for a month, otherwise it's a waste. The more harder you work and do the more work they give you.... so that's picking other people slack and the thing is you can't clock out until all the work is finished. Other than that, the people you grow a bond with- given how long you're with them everyday... like a family away from your actual family. The management could need work on. Lack in leadership. The OT money was crazy though.. but you can't buy time.
Pros
Fun environment, work family bond, benifits and OT money if you wanted.
Cons
Overworked, no work/life balance, picking up other peoples slack, wasting company's time money

This company lies to EDD if you apply for unemployment
Medical Data Entry/ Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  San Diego, CANovember 2, 2018
I do not see why the company would send you unemployment packet and shows you how to apply and yet when you apply and tell EDD the reason for your departure from the company, Labcorp HR/Management on Evening Creek lies to them and gets away with it!? How is that possible?! Never again with this horrible company.

Working here was difficult but fun
Specimen Lab Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Charleston, WVSeptember 6, 2018
the typical work day was difficult be cause it was so fast paced with so much to be done. LabCorp is a Medical service that processes any type of medical evaluation. it was as much as difficult as it was just hectic. I loved working there. Management was at peak performance. There was just one co worker i could not seem to get along with and it cost both of us our jobs.

Grueling mandatory overtime EVERY.SINGLE.DAY
Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZSeptember 2, 2018
If you are in desperate need of a job that allows unlimited overtime hours, than this job would be a perfect fit. However, OT is mandatory and you can expect to work 12+ hours 5+ days per week. The overnight shift is woefully understaffed with a high turnover rate. The training is inadequate with an emphasis on productivity metrics that are impossible to meet unless you are cutting corners. If you have a question you will have to bug a coworker who is cranky from overwork or doesn't know the correct answer either due to poor training. Managers are snippy, treat employees like robots, and play favorites. Management cares more about the speed of accessioning as opposed to accuracy ( this is a HUGE issue because a mistake can cause serious harm to patients' wellbeing). In my opinion, LabCorp has unethical business practices at the Phoenix location regarding both employees and clients. This is a modern day sweat shop. Not only are the hours long, but you will also be exposed to all manner of bodily fluids that may harbor infectious disease (HIV, STDs, etc). This is an incredibly easy job that will still somehow be one of the most stressful places you have ever worked-guaranteed.

Poor management
Specimen Accessioner (Current Employee) –  Cranford, NJAugust 7, 2018
Working here isn’t too bad but management is horrible. They don’t do anything but walk around. People do whatever they want and no one says anything. Some people stay an extra 5 mins on their break time and get up 5 more times during the day and they’re gone for 10-20 mins at a time. Work is not given out evenly. I understand that some people work faster, but some people don’t have any more work and they just leave while the rest are still working.

It’s not worth it
Specimen Accessioner (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZJuly 1, 2018
The tasks at LabCorp are simple, but management puts a lot of pressure to meet their quota, while their employees deal with an overwhelming amount of specimens to process. There is mandatory overtime, due to the fact that they constantly add new clients, despite the fact that the lab is severely understaffed. You work as a team, so if someone is slacking you end up doing that work. On top of that, management also allows their favorite employees to leave whenever they please, which leaves even more work for everyone else. The employees are overworked, and management puts a lot of pressure on the leads to keep it that way, so much, that it’s nearly impossible to take a simple bathroom/ water break apart from the breaks they give you. On the bright side, you do get to listen to music, but if you seem like you’re enjoying yourself just a little too much you will be scolded. Management cares more about numbers and money then they do about the employees or their wellbeing, they are nothing but another “body” to them. If you are looking for a high-stress fast-paced environment with overtime hours, no sleep, no personal life, low pay, then this is definitely for you. I miss my coworkers and working with LabCorp is an experience I don’t regret, but the amount of anger, boredom, fatigue, and stress I felt working there was overall not worth it. There is much that can be said about this place but I’ll leave it at that. LabCorp has the potential of being a great company to work for, but I cannot recommend working for them until they fix their system which, from what I have seen this year,  more... I highly highly doubt will ever happen.  less
