Very stressful. Plan to have multiple anxiety attacks if you work here.
General Laborer (Current Employee) –  Nampa, IDJuly 3, 2018
They have great pay and great benefits.
Poor management.
They are completely understaffed for the daily workload.
Poor communication is a common occurance here.
A good point though... You'll have job security as long as you have good attendance and don't annoy anyone in management, even if you are a terrible worker.
Management definitely plays favorites here. Dont expect to move up unless you kiss up. Excellent work ethics gains you nothing unless you become friends with someone in management.
Pros
Super benefits, excellent pay rate
Cons
Horribly stressful. Too long hours. Poor management. Poor management to worker communication

If you are American no chance of getting ahead there. If you want to get on there tell them you are not American. Only advance non American. All lies about jobs.

Would be a great place to work if the scheduling was better.
Operator (Current Employee) –  Buffalo, NYDecember 22, 2017
I enjoy the work that we do here and I get along pretty well with co-workers, supervisors, and the managers. The current supervisors and managers are usually pretty helpful with things, but there are one or two that seem to overwhelm themselves with the work they do and make it worse for the operators. Just relax.

The worst part of the job is the scheduling. You never know your schedule for the new week until 2-3 days prior. The days you're off are usually different and you can expect to work weekends, especially if you're low in seniority. If your relief calls off you'll be stuck working a double and if temps don't show up then you'll be stuck working in their place too. It makes it rough if you actually have a life outside of work, if you have young kids, etc.

The pay and benefits are pretty good. The benefits are lower in cost and better than all other places I've worked. You also get a normal 401k plan and an additional one that only the company puts money into which is pretty much like a pension.

This would be a great place if they focused less on getting product out and more on giving employees a consistent schedule, but you can only expect so much from a 24/7 operation.

Would not condemn anyone to work here
Laborer Worker (Former Employee) –  Belmont, WISeptember 15, 2017
The work place might be clean but one can get hurt easily and can get heatstroke very easily while working here and its extremely loud as well due to all the machines around you all the time. Plus there were also bugs in the walls where the cheese was being stored. (used a chemical to clean the empty rooms and had worm like bugs wriggling out of cracks in the walls)
Pros
decent health and dental plus decent pay
Cons
everything else

Operator (Former Employee) –  Nampa, IDAugust 10, 2017
Poor management and supervisors. Terrible communication, no teamwork, unproductive team atmosphere. You will be overworked and unappreciated. They pay u just enough to not quit. But you will fantasize about it...
Pros
Pay is better then elsewhere in food production.
Cons
Everything but the pay.

Curing Room Operator (Former Employee) –  Belmont, WIJuly 25, 2017
I was with Lactalis during my college years. It started out as a borderline horrible job and the manager was the worst. I became accustomed to the duties and the poor manager was eventually fired.

They were more than flexible with accommodating our schedules. Decent pay and fair amount of time off. Yes, the management staff is heavily French influenced as Lactalis is a French-based company (headquartered in France). Two of the best managers I had there were foreign (French & German). Advancement is possible if you have a good work ethic and put your time in. I was offered a promotion, but turned it down as I was soon relocating within the state.
Pros
Decent pay, good time off, great flexibility
Cons
Manual labor, high turnover (no work ethic), factory job

Président Cheese Marketing Intern (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMay 15, 2017
Worked with a lot of great people. The office could be a little challenging because of the international atmosphere- specifically if you didn't speak French.

Learned a ton about brand management and interns were trusted manage some their own projects.

Minimal time off when it comes to company wide vacation days.

Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) –  Belmont, WISeptember 13, 2016
Worked there quite awhile, the French mentality for management is werid. Also very hard when every department manager is either French or European and the only department manager that is American is in maintenance. Extremely high turn over rate due to techs getting fed up with the consistent inconsistencies. Wouldn't go back if I had to. Treated like a dog and paid like one also. Benefits were great but it's like having a mansion with no heat or electricity. What good are the benefits if your treated like a slave.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
French, cheap, high turnover over 30% every year.

Former employee (Former Employee) –  Buffalo, NYApril 17, 2016
Too many managers who cannot manage, zero work/life balance, non-respectful work environment, stressful, workload imbalance, prefer young workforce, nobody to goto in human resources with work problems, you're golden if you're French or are a manager favorite.
Pros
Cafeteria
Cons
Too many to list

Interim Corporate Attorney (Former Employee) –  Buffalo, NYJuly 24, 2012
I reviewed and approved all types of contracts, buyer's side and customer's contracts. The Legal dept. is involved in all facets of the company operations and approvals, from trade contracts, to IT and HR contracts, to marketing and branding and IP issues, to internet advertising, to real estate contracts, including apt. lease contracts and lease of farm land. The co-workers I dealt with are professional, and fun to work with. The hardest part of the job was the fact that it was a temporary position, and having to leave upon the return of the permanent employee who returned from leave. The people made the job most enjoyable - a good bunch to work with, from peers to my superior.
Pros
great and inexpensive food in the cafetaria, and nice offices and pleasant office space; altogether a good work environment.
Cons
none known.
