Plant was closed during the financial crisis of 2009

Simply a good company to work for - I was really sorry to see it closed. Good people in the plant all around and had good support from corporate office.

Physically demanding work and treated without respect

The work will take a toll on both your mental and physical health. The job involves working in all types of climates like the freezing cold, snow, rain, scorching heat, humid heat. This is all expected to be done while working with fly ash, limestone, and other dusty materials while also being covered in greases and hydraulic oils. Their number one priority is the production rate. Employee safety and well-being is a joke, they just try to avoid MSHA citations. There are no leadership qualities in the managers and a lack of initiative from them to invest in their employees. Keeping the plant running and pushing rates matter most. Department finger pointing is also common, it's like working with a bunch of children in adult bodies.

No life.

If you haven’t been a concrete driver before you must know that you will never have a life outside of work. They easily work 70 hours a week and if they could they would try to work you more. They mostly work 15 hours shifts and that is only because DOT wont allow you to drive more than that. 8hrs off and then repeat every day!! After only a week I was done. This job will destroy your mental and physical health but your bank account will look good.Also, if variety is the spice of life for you than stay away because this is the most redundant job I’ve ever had. Easy been redundant as heck. Training isn’t good either.

Run rock, make money

Work long, hard hours in summer. Save your money from overtime because there’s seasonal layoffs in November. Availability to learn everything in the plant but expect to fix everything in the plant also

Management is a do as I say not as i do style. Concerns are roadblocks for Management safety is preached and not followed.

Management is hired as friends of upper management. Terminal manager has no idea how the Terminal runs or should run. Management is not open to listening to legacy employees and does what suits them without regard of employees. The integrity line is supposed to help but hasn't followed through with HR when concerns are raised. Problems get swept under the rug. I wish I knew this before I was hired I would have declined knowing what I do now.

Micro managing manager

Manager sits at desk and at home on his phone watching all employees on cameras all over the facility. Gives you a training schedule for two weeks on day one. Throw it away day one. There is no training there.Good group of guys that work there for the most part. Manager has to have everything his way even though the employees know better and do better without him around.Manager tells you one thing then 5 minutes later you can hear him on the phone telling a customer a lie

Toxic Workplace

Overall, the company is not badly structured, and is organized well enough for advancement. Culture toxicity ultimately plague the organizations locations across the US. Professionals, and former members of management elsewhere will find themselves faced with providing upward feedback regularly to members of middle management, and while such practices are encouraged in their policies; actions taken to provide that feedback will be ostracized socially, severely limited professionally, and ultimately will choose to walk away as the company is hemorrhaging talent on a daily basis where professionals, and members of skilled labor alike can be found looking elsewhere for career mobility, and fulfillment. Fortunately, the talent pool that choose to leave become highly valued members of their teams elsewhere.As one would think though, having zero support when a manager curses you out for doing what they asked you to, and following it up with several other immature, childish comments aimed at ensuring you know who’s boss… because some do not possess the strength of character to lead without having to remind everyone working for them just how powerful, and important they are.


Challenging environment, strong talent at the professional, entry level management, and mid-management levels.


Good ol’ boy network where promotions are dictated by nights out drinking, and not professional achievements.

Good experience for short tenure. People were friendly and atmosphere was fine. For long-term, you either need to appreciate role of your position or enjoy the outcome of your work (construction materials).

Ok place to work

It is an ok place to work but always outside summer and winter it sucks when it is 105 degrees outside and you have to wear a supplied air mask and a insulated haz mat suit to sample and offload trucks makes you sweat to death it's an ok wage at 16 an hour but not very good raises but can usually get decent bonus check at the end of every year people are pretty nice as long as you are nice to them but they like to mess around a lot another good thing the day you get hired you get 2 weeks of vacation and 3 floating holidays

Senior level management does not care for the employees.

The company keeps the staff extremely short-handed. There are so few people to cover positions that supervisors and managers are having to cover hourly positions. Even MSHA came in and said we were extremely understaffed to adequately run our facility. DO NOT work for Lafarge Holcim, you will not have a good work-life balance. The insurance is also bad.

Productive, fun and enjoy because Holcim/Lafarge have relationship with citizen

Every day is fun in the Holcim office because there we can learn a lot, such as English classes, cement processing, Holcim site cleanliness, organized management, no corruption, salaries, and others.For jobs that require a certain amount of time, for example during a breakdown, we are all required to think hard about how to complete it correctly and quickly.

Overworked Underpaid

They Hire managers that have no experience and expect the employees they are managing to train them. Training is awful it is sink or swim. Benefits get worse every year. Everything is quantity over quality.

The supervisors

They don’t care if you have an family emergency they will fire you over it they did it to me I regret wasting my time work here DO NOT SUGGEST WORKING HERE AT ALL the don’t give you breaks or lunch breaks and they take it out your check they are not a good company to work for I literally had to take my son to the hospital because he wasn’t breathing right a 6 month old at that and got fired for it

Everyone keeps their head down and just does work, little help from management, company tends to cut employee benefits before taking a loss. Terrible management besides a few.

Better rethink this one

This is not a good place for someone with many years of experience. I went in with 15 years equipment experience 10 years of that in a Limestone mine. You will be told to do one thing then told by another you are doing it wrong. You will never be doing something right when management can't seem to agree how things should be done. The py is $20 hr. Health insurance it completely garbage. Just ask many questions and look closely. This a inexperienced run mine with very low sales. Keep looking is the best advice I can give on this place.

If you can do your job right and still take criticism, it’s not a bad place to work.

Stakeholders are never heard out by middle-upper management, training is less to be desired which delays getting your raises on time. Benefits are good, insurance premiums are on the high side.
