Cool job with lots of opportunities

Lam has a forgiving culture and has many opportunities for those looking to gain experience in something new. A lot of their leadership is hired from within.

Horrible

Very slow work environment. Hard to move up within the company even though they state that your career growth is top priority. Highly recommend not to work here

ALD Product group is friendly & fun

It was a pleasure to work in the ALD Product group. They highly value individuals who are smart, fun, and possess a type-A personality. One of the challenges I encountered was the preference for experienced project managers over new graduates. The team seemed to prioritize candidates with prior experience rather than investing time in training new, young talents with fresh perspectives.

Good Company

Lam Research provided a good and safe work environment. The company provided all the necessary equipment to perform my job duties. One issue I had was feeling siloed and not able to explore other internal opportunities.

Productive

I’m verbally experienced at Lam was very helpful and gained experience in the manufacturing industry. Although working in the sub levels was very peaceful during the work hours, random tasks were a bit tedious on the ticket side of Swic Techs. Nonetheless we performed our tasks and then some.

Pros

Good meals/ working environment

Cons

Short breaks

Lam research is a good job if you want to be stagnant.

No real training provided, just competency with sap and other systems are tested. When the company is balls to the walls busy in manufacturing, you are expected to push out modules that aren't even capable of performing in the field. Most employees that are there surprisingly shouldn't be in the position they are in. Tribal knowledge is paramount. Instructions for testing are by far the worst written instructions often with typos, no directions at all, or red lines that have and never will get corrected by the tech writers. The rhythm of the semiconductor industry also affects them immensely to where they will lay off many employees and hire just as many the next quarter(long term employees included). If you want stability this is not the long term career you want. Direct supervisors are also very hard to get ahold of, I mean this in the most polite way possible but it's unbelievable that lam has the reputation it has.🤡

Pros

Laid back environment even when somewhat busy, I have literally seen people watch TV shows on their laptop in the clean room 🤡, Really nice compressed schedule to be honest allows a long weekend every weekend

Cons

See above, The place is run like a zoo with no zookeeper at least in the fab, Lam is also incredibly stingy with pay and pay everybody very different wages, Despite the experience one person may have over the other

Busy and uncaring workplace

Perhaps an unusual experience, as I interned during COVID and had no neighbors near my cube. There was surprisingly little support for learning the job, and throughout my time there I often could not access the tools necessary to do my job, as I did not have the permissions and had to go through my mentor, who was too busy to really help. Besides my mediocre relationship with my mentor, it was very solitary. The company had great equipment and learning resources though.

Productive workplace. When in the right Line, awesome team to work with. Advancement is a HUGE POSSIBILITY.

Working at Lam was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Life Changing. I was introduced to the world of Semiconductors. In the beginning I did struggle. I found later, that the reason for my struggle was because of the Lead I had. They weren't as supportive as other leads. To some point it felt like they've already made a decision about who or what type of worker you are after 1 week of starting. Supervisors on the other hand, were VERY VERY supportive. Moving me to a new line with a new Lead and new supervisor, they were able to excel me and challenge me to bigger and betting things. I eventually became an Electronic Test Technician. But unfortunately, due to the Ups and Downs of the industry I wasn't able to officially become an Electronic Test Technician for Lam. My Lead and Supervisor really knew how to develop a team, they really knew how to cater to each of us. Because of how my Lead and Supervisor were, my fellow Co-Workers were amazing to work with. We were basically like a family helping each other to complete our assignments by the end of our shift. And till this day, I hope one day we can all return, and work with each other again. Amazing work life balance. CWW sched.

Pros

Free commute (ride share via Bus provided by Lam), Cafeteria food verity. Amazing work life balance (CWW sched.) Breaks were very very resonable.

Cons

Leadership from different lines tend to contradict Supervisors. Gossiping co-workers.

I am looking for other opportunities. That is why I am logged into Indeed.

What is the best part of working at the company?Good benefits: 401K, Medical, Vision, dental, ESPP, Annual $500 for sport equipment or memberships, etc..What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Toxic people. There are employees from multiple companies that Lam has bought out that do not fit into the Lam culture and Lam does not fix that. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?OK in some departments and bad in other departments depending on what group you work with. Some departments have more toxic people than others. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Frustrating as many people who work from home do not seem to get much done and do not respond to questions.

Waste of time

What is the best part of working at the company?12 hour shifts more days off , timed breaks :) What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Knowing if there is going to be work , anyone can sit down and still make money but when it’s constantly happening gets boring What is the work environment and culture like at the company? If you aren’t buddies with the higher people , you won’t get a raise was there for 4 years started at 18.50 left at 21.30 they will use the excuse of we provide good benefits which I found out a lot of companies offer better health coverage What is a typical day like for you at the company?Come in see Night Shift did nothing , realize everything isn’t in place I was a lead so force people to do jobs they didn’t want to do

Safety oriented logistics culture

I am a logistics professional and worked as a logistics supervisor in one of the Lam warehouses located in Tualatin for about a year. The warehouse is by far the most immaculate one I have ever worked in and the safety culture is second to none. Before becoming a supervisor I worked as a material handler and it was frustrating at times working around the 35 lb single person lifting limit, but I'd rather have it that way than most other warehouse work I've done where safety is an afterthought.I had a very positive experience working at Lam.

Wonderful people, less than wonderful job security.

The main site for LAM is stunning and comfortable. People on night shift are amazing. Especially the lower management who are hands on with their workers such as leads and lower supervisors. The job itself is complex but rewarding. Lots of good skills that I can use in day to day life. The upper management on the other hand is tone deaf. Crowing about record sales and announcing layoffs in the same breath. The constant layoffs makes job security 0 to none. Definitely don't get too comfortable.

Pros

Great work/life balance, great coworkers

Cons

No job security, tone-deaf higher management.
