Reviews about Pay & Benefits for Process Engineer in Lam Research
Too stressful
Process Engineer (Current Employee) - Fremont, CA - September 30, 2023
The salary is good in semiconductor industry. However, it’s so tired to deal with all problems from different levels: your managers, customers and coworkers on the same tool. No wlb

If you don't have a Ph.D from MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, etc., good luck getting hired here
Process Engineer (Current Employee) - Fremont, CA - November 23, 2020
Some people at Lam boast about how hard it is to get a job there, as if it is a prestigious university, like Stanford or Harvard. This is translates into an ever increasing elitist culture, where SOME people who have been there a long time tend to think very highly of themselves and put others down. At the end of the day, the American dollar spends the same way, whether it comes from Lam or McDonalds--this is a fact that the aforementioned people do not get. You will get to work on state of the art technology and be surrounded by brilliant minds, but be prepared to be part of a system that never slows down. When a much needed holiday approaches and you yearn for a day of relaxation at home, be prepared to have your phone next to you at all hours of the day (and or night) , so that you can keep up with projects and e-mails. To put it simply, Lam is a 'hot shot' type of place, where pretty much only the people with the most fancy of school names and degrees get hired. The positives of this are that you will be challenged in an ambitious team environment, but the negatives are that really big egos do exist here and there. The company is big on its Core-Values, but there are long-tenured people there who think they are above the system and entitled to say and do whatever they want. My advice is to steer clear of these people and don't let their egos knock you down.
Pros
Benefits, average to above average pay, great campus location by the Bay, Espp, etc. Get to work with really smart people.
Cons
High stress, semiconductor industry can be 'cut-throat, ' sometimes hard to see impact of work on greater society. Some egotistical people.
