Langan is an excellent company to work for
Summer Civil Engineering Internship (Former Employee) –  Parsippany, NJJanuary 7, 2019
My experience as an intern at Langan Engineering during the summer of 2018 was an excellent opportunity. The company provided me with many opportunities for both classroom environment and on the job training. The team I worked with was made up of individuals who were very knowledgeable and always were willing to find the time to train me in new areas whenever necessary.

Great Place to Work as an Intern
Engineering Intern (Former Employee) –  United StatesDecember 30, 2018
As an intern, was able to participate in a wide variety of different projects, ranging from stormwater design, to residential subdivision layouts. I learned a lot about the site/civil profession, and helped me make informed decisions about my future career.

Multi-Discipline Engineering Firm
Assistant Project Engineer (Former Employee) –  Elmwood Park, NJDecember 22, 2018
Langan presented an excellent opportunity to work for a multidiscipline engineering firm on diverse projects. Coordination between civil engineer, geotechnical engineer, environmental engineer (permitting and environmental assessment), wetlands and cultural resources under one roof was invaluable for clients and for the professional growth of staff.
Pros
Excellent multi disciple workforce
Cons
lack of work / life

Very driven environment, to a fault sometimes
Senior Staff Geologist (Current Employee) –  Doylestown, PASeptember 20, 2018
Langan can be a whirlwind of good and bad from the same source. The driving force is the mission of the company which means when the work is flowing and your head is focused and in the game, it is an awesome place to work. If you are not driven or 100% on the same page with the leadership for personal, professional, or various other reasons, you can get lost in the surging tide. The communication lines are often very open and feedback is usually very welcomed.
Pros
Lunch with trainings, compensation and healthcare is good, driven and stimulating environment
Cons
metrics based, non-profitable contributions can be overlooked, burn-out for newer staff can be a challenge.

A Great Company and Workplace Environment
Sr. Project Accounting Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Philadelphia, PAAugust 27, 2018
There is really no critique that I have for this company. I wish there was a little more room for growth however I think everyone has that same desire hence some times it is time to find that growth elsewhere. This is a great company to work for and is a great culture there.

Great People
Mobile LiDAR Specialist (Former Employee) –  Parsippany, NJJune 15, 2018
The Langan family is very welcoming. Great place to get started with a career. Mid-level professionals may find it a bit confining in terms of upward growth. Promotions and salary bumps are based on years of service in the company, not years of experience.

Empty promises and scapegoat mentalities
Staff Geologist (Former Employee) –  Irvine, CAJune 10, 2018
Worked for Socal office for a few years. Definitely feast or famine. Prepare for weeks at a time where there is no work. Then prepare to be away weeks at a time being worked like a dog. Prepare to be blamed for mangements inability to bring in work. Office is cold, no one speaks to one another. Folks will throw you under the bus in a heart beat. Project managers make unethical decisions making staff uncomfortable. Lack of cross training. Use of personal vehicle majority of time. Very stressful and unsatisfiable work. Trust me, look at another company.
Pros
End of year bonus - maybe
Cons
Lack of satisfying work, cold office, terrible management

no work-life balance
Project Engineer (Former Employee) –  Elmwood Park, NJMay 16, 2018
enjoyed most people I worked with, the jobs that we got to bring along were exciting and challenging, and opportunities existed to continue learning...however, if you want to remember what your family looks like it's a rough gig. Hopefully in the 9 years since I've been here they've improved that fact.
Pros
compensated well
Cons
no life

Fall Intern (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 11, 2018
Nice office, but field work could be tough. Sometimes you are required to work in tough environmental conditions, but that is expected in this type of field.

Pros
great projects to work on with great people to work with

If you like being worked like a dog, you will do great at this company
Staff Geologist (Former Employee) –  californiaJanuary 10, 2018
This company is feast or famine. There will be weeks where you will have no work at all and then there will be weeks where they work you like a dog. Management excepts you to always be billable (which is impossible a lot of the times). The office environment is cold and if not non-existent, they discourages socializing with your coworkers. Departments discourages cross-training.
Pros
Benefits are great
Cons
management doesn't know how to manage. Toxic work enviroment!!!

sweatshop
Senior Staff Engineer (Former Employee) –  Lawrenceville, NJDecember 3, 2017
Sweatshop summaries it all. You will be burned with overlapping deadlines and overwhelming workload. The company has a high multiplier and pays good year end bonuses but the overtime on many projects is not paid due to low balling during proposal stage to win the work.

Establishing data log for Community Air Monitoring Program and reviewed for exceedances, soil boring readings and logs of below grade surface profiles. Measured below grade lateral shifts with Inclinometer reader, oversight of subcontractors during construction operations.
