You work from home and set your own schedule on the most part. The best part about this is meeting people around the world both teachers and students. If you have any problems during your class, help is only a click away.

Fun environment with flexible hours

Worked with great kids from around the world, a lot of fun, ability to work from home and have flexible hours. Pay is low but it’s a great job for individuals living abroad or traveling.

Fun classes, cute kids, and management is very responsive.

Classes can get a bit repetitive after a while but you get a steady income with a steady number of students every day. The teacher community is very welcoming and helpful in case of emergencies. Management is usually very understanding when it comes to tardiness or missed classes if it's due to a legitimate reason. Their range of teaching hours is great: 7 am-9 pm CST.

Pros

Tons of flexibility to pick up and drop shifts within the hour of their start time, coursework is provided and classes are very easy, kids are usually very well-behaved, feedback is fair and helpful.

Cons

Pay could be higher considering sometimes you get 4-5 students and pay has not increased, the possibility of advancement beyond the current teacher incentive setup would be nice.

Flexible hours, but the pay isn't worth it

Open English just started hiring heavily from other countries because hiring Americans is expensive. As a result you get to hear students complain that they can't understand the accents, when the company advertises North American standard English. Many low quality teachers aren't native speakers, and it shows in their student feedback. The pay scale will never increase, and if minimum wage ever increases above $7.50/hour in the US, they will probably fire all the US citizens. They seem to put holds on hiring US residents at various times. The quality of teachers varies greatly and some can't even spell. There is a wide range in the availability of shifts, with no shifts available at prime times some weeks and lots of shifts available in other weeks. It won't pay the bills alone. The pay is on time if you want to work for dirt, and the adult students are motivated.

Pros

Flexibility

Cons

Low pay, unpredictable availability of shifts

A lot of hours

They don’t pay much but they do have a lot of hours available so you can work for them as much as you want! The kids are great and the material is easy.

Pros

Paid on time

Cons

Could pay more hourly

Very great and fun environment

I love working there! It's a great environment and everyone helps each other for tips and support. I recommend this job to anyone who is a teacher. Teaching online is a great way for teaching during this pandemic time.

productive

this is an online job. Thus you create your own time you are paid depending on the amount of work that you produce. Unfortunately, your work is rated and you are paid accordingly.

Reliable and a relaxed area to work, freedom

A typical day includes signing in to a Classroom software on my laptop and staying available for students who need some tutoring on the areas I'm assigned. The most enjoyable part is that it is online, you just need a connection to the Internet, which means you can work from home or almost wherever you want. The hardest part of the job is that you can't get a lot of tutoring hours because you can only schedule less than 10 hours per week. And when you stay online and not on the schedule or "floating" you don't have that many assignations.

Pros

Entirely online

Cons

Few hours per week
