Administration Assistant (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - February 12, 2020
This company only respects people in upper management who are not team players whatsoever. If you are technical, they you have a fighting chance, otherwise not a good place to work at all compensation
Pros
Decent compensation
Cons
Terrible management

Only one sales person remains
Territory Business Manager (Former Employee) - Remote - January 24, 2020
Of the original 53 sales reps hired in 2016, only one remains. Everyone else, including managers, have left. Stock has plummeted, and all hopes were on diabetes med that never received approval, so everyone continues selling diarrhea med.

Productive work environment with poor management
Scientist I (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - November 22, 2019
Lexicon had a productive culture in place for many years. Unfortunately, upper management decisions with partnering early on prevented this promising biotech from succeeding.

Lead Document Management Specialist (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - June 13, 2019
Awesome place to work. Great atmosphere but management will talk to you like you’re less than if your a temp. All of the other staff are friendly and encouraging.

Terrible corporate climate
Oncology Sales (Current Employee) - United States - March 28, 2019
Unqualified leadership at every turn. Everyone doing a job they've never done before and it shows. Would not recommend this company to anyone, no matter their career interest.

I liked working there
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - July 15, 2018
I liked working at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals and meet some good people that I am still friends with today. The office was close to home. They had monthly social events. If an employee had an emergency and needed time off and did not have enough vacation time management rallied together and help the employee and their family.
Pros
Monthly events

Would not advise working at Lexicon.
Contract Executive Assistant to EVP of R&D (Current Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - June 5, 2018
Would not advise working at Lexicon. Management is self-promoting. Employee training and development is non-existent. EVP's are overly concerned with small expenditures, yet do not hesitate to spend several thousand dollars on luxuriant travel.
Pros
Pays well
Cons
Management and longer term employees are self-absorbeded

Enjoyed the Team I worked With
Clinical Research Associate (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - January 20, 2018
Many employees had been there for several years, had grown with the company, and were personally invested. I found that refreshing.
There was a limited budget for FTEs, but an unlimited budget for contractors leading the company to hire on more contractors who were not invested in the company and were not diligent workers. Two divergent ends of the spectrum lead to an odd culture.

great corporate gatherings
Research Assistant (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - May 10, 2017
while the company was a success, the workload was high but doable. They had a team base system of work, which was very helpful when finishing the work.

Lexicon
Senior Scientist-Metabolism (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - February 1, 2017
Management was week. Too much stress. Upper level science was often disrupted by minor things that were required. Animal care works were seen to run company and upper science was not efficient.

Great Start Up Company To Join
N/A (Current Employee) - TX - May 18, 2015
Pay and benefits are great. Team is wonderful. The only draw back is the small size, this limits the potential for growth in a career. A great place to work.

I appreciate that there was never a dull moment or assignment, Management wasn't very well preared in certain areas.
Administrative Specialist (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - October 29, 2012
My manager recruited me from a different department, knowing he would be layed off in 6 to 10 months. He needed my organizational skils, in the end I had the department organized but also within the 6 month time frame he was let go and due to me being his admin I was let go as well. Great company very family oriented. Also, a great learning exerience for me.
Pros
i was able to lead with my organizational skills which are still in place today.
Cons
the office politicing was hard at times but always a challenge and i appreciate a challenge.

very good scientists (used to be) but terrible management favoring their buddies and not people who actually do the work
Senior Scientist (Former Employee) - The Woodlands, TX - April 10, 2012
The company used to have an amazing scientific leadership and productive and proud research associates eager to work overtime and deliver results. However, due to terrible management, its greed resulting in a lack of any deals despite - initially - good value behind the scientific approach, and florishing favoritism, the company has been going downhill in the past 5 years (5 or more annual lay offs since 2007, and occasional lay offs of individuals in between). Management favors their buddies and some people who sit quiet but do not do any real work and just collect $$ with high management titles (Lexicon has more directors than any other titles in the company the size just over 150 people!). The company does not seem to value smart and proactive employees with creative ideas who actually do work and achieve results. In addition to not valuing the work force which is the main asset of any company (and Lexicon used to have the best before they started their annual layoffs), the company also managed to fail to deliver on their promise to Texas government to create new jobs when they received State money to create TIGM. They backed off from the deal (after receiving $$) and Texas A&M had to pick up the stake while Lexicon not only did not create any new jobs but reduced it's own work force by more than 70% since the TIGM deal was signed. Not trustworthy company and poor culture to work in.
Pros
discounted lunches at site cafeteria, good benefits
Cons
terrible management of the company, favoritism, job insecurity (5 lay offs since 2008)
