Good company to begin career at. Almost like the bootcamp of Market Research companies. Lean staff - long hours. Care more about margins than the people.

Avoid
SRM (Former Employee) –  Century City, CASeptember 12, 2018
Endless meetings. Needlessly overblown process. Unethical research practices. Does not keep up with the industry. Soul-crushing micro-management.
Do not recommend.

Balance between analysis and project management not ideal
Senior Research Manager (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CADecember 18, 2017
LRW will give anyone an extremely solid grounding in market research, including different methodologies and guiding principles. However, on the project side, the job becomes more of a project management role than a true research/analyst role. Over time, you will be exposed to different types of research and methodologies and learn a lot, but you will be pulled in the direction of project management, limiting how much you can really dive into what's actually interesting.

LRW is also obsessive about processes, which can be good, but it tends to be overkill and leads to timelines that feel crunched to employees but long to clients. Not a good balance. Work/life balance is also not ideal.

Pros: Ability to learn a lot, quick promotions if you earn them, casual dress code, good people, decent salary structure as you move up

Cons: Long hours, tons of project management tedium, terrible 401(k) match (and right now it's suspended), insultingly low bonus amounts for senior staff (and no real structure/justification to the bonuses, leading to a lack of motivation), a company-wide obsession with financial performance even though the benefits/motivation for middle management are essentially non-existent, dated office space

It really all depends on what team you are on
Market Research Manager (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAAugust 30, 2017
Just like any job, there are their busy seasons, but here you have 10+ hour days constantly. Depending on the business unit you are on, you might even work weekends. In honesty, some teams are great here, if you are one of the teams that aren't popular, you will know. The company went through a round of layoffs in June and people smell the blood in the water. It has been busier with so many people leaving the company and the higher ups are so stressed with their sales goals that they do not help much with projects leaving people who have never managed in charge of dictating project outcomes. They really stop training you after your first year, after that, you are too busy to take part of the training that hasn't been refreshed in 6+ years since the people who lead those training are too busy to update it.

A challenging and fast paced work environment
Human Resources Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAMay 31, 2016
Although LRW is challenging and fast paced, upper-management genuinely cares about your well being and strives to make the company a great place to work.
LRW actively promotes from within so the hard work definitely pays off!

Great Place - if you don't have a brain
MARKETING ANALYST (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CASeptember 4, 2015
If you like daily repetitive tasks that don't involve thinking, you may be happy here. The work is ridiculously mundane and easy. There is no mental stimulation. Good people leave very soon after joining so the talent-less end up staying and being promoted which means the new people who actually have talent have to report to clueless managers who are ego monsters and don't know a thing about leadership. The place is a joke.
Pros
Even a blind squirrel gets a nut - good place for those without brains to get a job
Cons
Worked like slaves, horrible management, fake culture (trying to be like "google" but not even close), very immature people

Great place to advance your career, but poor work/life balance ruin long term prospects
Senior Research Manager (Current Employee) –  Century City, CAFebruary 7, 2015
LRW is a great place to advance your career in market research and very open to employees forging their own "path". You get to work with some brilliant folks.

However poor work/life balance ruin long term career prospects at LRW. High turnover as employees hit about 2 years at the company.

Great place to work and all staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
Accounting Intern (Former Employee) –  Century City, CAMay 31, 2014
During my time as an accounting intern I was able to learn how to use Dynamics GP and enter journal entries as well perform reconciliation after each month. They provided valuable lessons for the real world and we always available to help me with an open door policy.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PLACE TO WORK!

A good place for highly talented people focused on career; not good for people wanting work life balance
Research Director (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAApril 8, 2013
LRW is a good place to advance in MR if you are highly driven and willing to work hard. The pace never lets up, though not sure if it's an industry dynamic of just LRW. Work life balance tips in favor of the company in most cases.
