Leave of Absence Specialist (Former Employee) –  Plano, TXFebruary 10, 2019
Lifecare's focus has changed over the years. The original owners had a mission for the patient care. The new owners are more into money making. It gives you an opportunity to learn. It works with you to improve yourself.
The LifeCare Hospitals of Pittsburgh is like a family. Everyone cares about each other
Pros
Friendly people to work with
Cons
To many manager changes

Management is horrible at the CBO. Stressful environment and treated like a child. No structure and no training, you have to come with knowledge. I would not recommend anyone to work on the business office side.

I never thought a hospital could be so mismanaged...
Mental Health Associate (Former Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PADecember 29, 2018
Over the past four months I have been exposed to some very intelligent nursing staff, however they were quickly overburdened by the lack of team work and dedication that should be contributed by their aids. Constant call-offs, no-call no-shows, and simple lack of staff make this mental health unit a very unsafe place for both patients and staff.

Lack of communication between management and nursing staff also make your daily tasks like a scavenger hunt; you won’t receive all the information on say, an updated behavioral plan, or a room change, you need to figure it out for yourself. In addition, when you do receive feedback you will be talked down to.

Having worked on an inpatient psychiatric unit for 3 years, this hospital came as a complete shock. I would not recommend any hard working, dedicated, or skilled individual apply here. What you will see will only break your heart.
Pros
12 hour shifts
Cons
Unsafe work environment, Lack of communication, Lack of personnel management

Charge Nurse, RN (Former Employee) –  Las Vegas, NVFebruary 4, 2019
Mangers out of touch. Pay is low. All they worry about is HPPI. In other words money and how they can save it. Took the job of two and cut it down to one.
Pros
Not many

Where good nurses go to die
RN Staff Nurse (Former Employee) –  Reno, NVJanuary 18, 2019
The Reno/Sparks lifecare/Tahoe Pacific hospital is an abysmal place to work. Over-managed AND mismanaged, zero opportunities for education or advancement. If you’re serious about your chosen profession pass this one by and seek your opportunities elsewhere; this one is a sure dead end.
Pros
The pay was good for the area, but most other hospitals now pay as much or more
Cons
Aggressive mismanagement and hypermanagement, no support from overly-large management team

Financially Driven - Lack of patient focus
CEO (Current Employee) –  Plano, TXJanuary 3, 2019
LifeCare was once know for their high patient care standards. But know that has all changed. The bottom line drives the business 100%. The clinical programs are weak at best.

Unsafe place to work
Unit Secretary (Former Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAOctober 19, 2018
Life Care in Pittsburgh was cut throat, unorganized, and a unsafe place to work. I find it hard that the staff was not qualified to do their job and it was okay. The nursing director was only hired because of the friendship she had with the company. Life Care did not care about the staff unless your are a nurse nor did they care about the patients

Graduate Student Clinician (Former Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAAugust 28, 2018
As a graduate student clinician, I was able to do hands-on work within my first week of working. I was adequately supervised and given opportunities to treat patients independently. Other professionals (e.g., nurses, OT's, PT's, etc.) were fantastic to work with and learn from.

Unit Secretary (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXSeptember 4, 2018
Caring for patients is my, I enjoy my job. I needed a company that is going to care for me like I care about the work I put out. LifeCare didn't pay for experience. They over pay their friends and family and Don't pay for your experience.

Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Pittsburgh, PAAugust 29, 2018
Does not matter if the floor needs help or you cannot properly care for your patients because you do not have enough staff. That is what happens when you work for a for profit hospital. Would never send a family member here.
Pros
decent pay
Cons
unorganized, not enough staff for the acuity of the patients

Certified Nursing Assistant (Former Employee) –  Mechanicsburg, PAAugust 7, 2018
This location is no longer open. Great place to work at, however, hours were not always there due to low patient census. Offers certification in BLS/CPR and Telemetry Technician training on site.

Monitor Tech/ Unit Secretary (Former Employee) –  West Chester, PAJuly 31, 2018
some of the staff are very rude and disrespectful. if the supervisor or nursing officer does not like you they will fire you and make up stuff about you. there is no team work at this place. you have to do more then just your workload.
