Long Hours with 24 hour shifts
Organ Donation Coordinator and Mgr (Former Employee) –  Amarillo, TXAugust 20, 2018
LifegIft does not recognize the hard work that the employees do. Considering the staff is dealing with Death and Dying with families and are up for extraneous periods of time. Became worse with new CEO. Lost focus of the mission and vision.
Pros
Very rewarding job
Cons
Long hours, no management support, office in Houston receives the somewhat positive atmosphere.

Tissue Recovery Technician (Current Employee) –  Fort Worth, TXApril 1, 2018
Feels good knowing that you made a difference at the end of the day. Top management do not realize how important the people at the bottom is. Constantly changes to the bottom line to benefit management . It's all about numbers culture . For what you do and the skill level required and the hazard, your pay is low compared to other OPO's.
Pros
Knowing you made a difference
Cons
Low pay, you don't feel important, high turnover, management

Licensed Vocational Nurse (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXMarch 20, 2018
Poor management, however is improving. Left employment due to relocation. Learned lots about organ donation process. Hardest part of the job is trying to disconnect on days off and keeping a balance between family and work.
Pros
Good Pay.
Cons
Unable to disconnect from job on days off at times.

What is endured
Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXFebruary 21, 2018
The biggest problem is the already established clicks that are deeply rooted and established. Theres no individual accountability or consistency, this creates a huge disconnect when conflicts arise.
You will run yourself to ragged, and no one will even notice, or nevertheless when the proper support and help do not pull their weight. Its only noticeable if there is an issue, and they clearly are only concerned with the monthly numbers.
A little behind the times when it comes to technolohy in relation to other OPOs, some of the paperwork process is still done on paper
Pros
Saving lives throughout the community
Cons
No individual accountability

Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXNovember 29, 2017
The work is good, hard but fulfilling. You can go home at the end of the day and feel like you made a difference. Many of the people are difficult to work for and with.

Numbers driven. Management is not very experienced.
HR Director (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXSeptember 7, 2015
Not family oriented. Too political. No work life balance. The people are very passionate about what they do. The hardest part of the job was management being ethical.
