Quality Control Inspector (Former Employee) –  Wilson, NCJune 8, 2018
on a daily basis we worked from 7pm to 7am . we took two breaks one was 15 minutes the other was 30 minutes. it was very layed back. even though it was twelve hours on our feet the time went by fast. the managers always came by and made surewe were getting our jobs done, but also to make sure we didn't need anything.

Working at Linamar, really depends on the team and the facility you work for. There are times where you need to step-up and times where its relaxed. Pay is so-so but a good stepping stone to start your career.

A lot of potential, that will never be recognized
Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Arden, NCMarch 23, 2018
A very cut throat environment, which will eventually be upper managements exit card. They lack vision, and they lack the ability to take feedback. Blatant favoritism runs rampant, some day they will walk off into disaster here, due to being inconsistent with discipline and termination, past practices will get them if someone ever looks into it. The man at the helm could not run a small paper route and is simply a very low functioning alcoholic, and is just a part of a good ole boy network. Enough with the slams. Linamar could be very profitable company but the current managers are afraid, literally, to hire people as knowledgeable or better than they are. Turn over is out of control, and they treat employees like mushrooms, by keeping them in the dark feeding them a mess and expect them to grow. A huge mistake and disappointment on my part, I was well on my way to making the maintenance department something to see. There is so much potential there it is sickening to watch just go away. The folks in Canada have no idea of what is going down the drain, and won't until it's to late.

Pros

CNC Machinist (Current Employee) –  Florence, KYMarch 6, 2018
I enjoyed the atmosphere and people. They are competitive but communication skills are bad. For women there is not much room for advancement and so you have to work twice as hard. It is a great place to gain skills and experience but not much more from that.

Material Handler (Former Employee) –  NCFebruary 8, 2018
If you're a woman, beware of this place. If you're an educated woman, with professionalism and a work ethic, really beware. The supervisor suggested an unsafe practice (regarding lift operation) on the first day, and remained adamant in his stance after I questioned him.
Pros
None.
Cons
Too many.

Engineering Department - Engineering Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Florence, KYJanuary 31, 2018
Management doesn't care about their employees just the product....Investment in the facility would go a long way to showing their employees they care about their health and well being.

Below Average Management. Work Every Other Weekend. Always Short Staffed.
Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Arden, NCSeptember 21, 2017
I liked working here at first until the expectations of management became too unrealistic and we had to work every other weekend. During the summer months, they don't have air conditioning in the whole building so it gets up to around 100 degrees sometimes which makes working there on the hot summer days/nights difficult.

The hardest part of the job for me was being short staffed all of the time and having to do more than one job non-stop during your shift day in and day out. The most enjoyable part of the job for me was all of the great coworkers on the floor that I got to work with.

On a positive note, you did get benefits, vacation pay, and paid personal days if you were full-time.
Pros
Benefits. Eight Hour Shifts. A Weekend Off Bi-weekly.
Cons
Unreasonable Production Demands. Short Staffed. Little To None Pay Increase.

General Operator (Current Employee) –  Arden, NCSeptember 19, 2017
This company is growing and with that comes overtime and promotions (quite a few folks have been promoted since I've started here). Their benefits are good and management is there for you and not in some high rise office.
Pros
Good benefits and pay
Cons
There has been a lot of over time lately.

Stressful envioronment chasing tail off to get new business
Senior Engineer (Former Employee) –  Livonia, MIJuly 15, 2017
This is a "build to print" company trying to get into design of units like PTU, RDU, E axles, Balance shafts module etc. Chasing a lot of business but haven't been successful.
Pros
Susidized coffee, good pay and benefits
Cons
Favoritism rampant. Very little / no new business.

typical day at work
Janitor/maintenance (Current Employee) –  Wilson, NCJune 12, 2017
A typical day at work is doing your job to your best ability making sure everything your suppose to do is done. What I learned about work is that everyday people have different attitudes I learned how to deal with it. I have no problem with workforce culture. The hardest part of the job was cleaning bathrooms behind nasty people. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to get to know everyone on a personal level.

Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Asheville, NCJune 12, 2017
Very Hot fume filled air. No matter how hard you work the upper management team talkes down to you and reminds you that you need to work even more. Could be great for someone with no personal life at all. They tell you to work hard and you mite get a weekend off. Then still no weekend
Pros
Breaks.
Cons
Management, schedule, employee morale...

if you are willing to work then go ahead. It is not a bad place to work. It is hot with no AC but you can work your way up. Be coachable and listen to leadership and you will be fine.

Disorganized and not a great place to work.
Human Resources Leader (Former Employee) –  Asheville, NCMarch 11, 2017
Management team is not strong so it takes a lot to get anything done. Decisions are made based strictly on cost or cost savings. This company has a very weak Corporate HR Team.
