Great Workplace

Featured review

Lincoln Financial Group selected this as a representative review
Great support and flexibility regarding time off. The ability to be able to work from home during the pandemic has been amazing. They also have many career advancement opportunities.

It's Okay

There are some really great folks you will work with, but lack of clarity on vision from higher levels of leadership results in the feeling of never quite knowing where we're going or if we'll even make it there before changing towards a completely different objective.

ok

The benefits are top notch, but your salary does not keep up with inflation. this company loves change for the sake of change and frequently lays people off during restructuring. you will often have mandatory overtime and are expected to worship your job. there are no advancement opportunities.

Customer Care Associate = Call Center

Working as a customer care associate is working in a call center. There are strict metrics to be met, it is a very stressful environment and oftentimes can feel like speed is put over quality.

Trying to turn us into a call center

If you are looking to work in an actual office for try case management.....this is not the place for you! They are trying to turn all the disability offices into call centers. Now the case managers have to be available to take inbound calls 90 percent of the day with 10 percent to do actual case management (review medical records, return voice mails, send medical records requests, and initial interviews) We know get screen pops demanding us to go available immediately if there's even 2 calls in the queue. We can't keep new hires, most of them quit during training. The tenured case managers keep going on leave, and the managers are all YOUNG!

Pros

None anymore

Cons

The whole organization

Do not work here!!!!

This is by far the worse company on earth! No diversity! No room to grow! No flexibility! I beg you dont do it. Directors and managers gossip and threaten you if you get sick or fall behind. HR will not take any concerns seriously. One manager threatened to punch another manager. Nothing. They do interviews for roles they have selected individuals for then laugh about it. No time to do quality work.Beware!

Cons

Hair loss, weight loss, and stress

Toxic. Micromanaged. Stressful. Only negative feedback.

Toxic. Toxic environment. Mgmt holds unwarranted grudges. Essentially 3 managers micromanaging. Hard work unnoticed. Treated as a doormat. Yelled at for lunch breaks. Management out to get you, no support. Resources outdated and innacurate. Expected to get answers from other departments in minutes, they take days, somehow your fault. Stress on another level. Churn out wholesalers almost daily, pushed out for making too much or staying in position for years. No communication between management. No set expectations.

Pros

Benefits

Cons

Absolutley everything.

Assignments closely monitored and evaluated

There was little compensation in terms of time, provided despite the length of the disability file that you needed to read, evaluate and often research, and or case manage then write a summary with disability decision and specific restrictions. One long-term files could take hours to review, but you're expectations did not change and only grew despite the complexities of the cases you were given to review. Your assessments were also scrutinized by the QI department and your supervisor, and at times you got criticized for being too thorough, yet claims could later be appealed by the claimant.

Pros

Great team of professional, experienced nurses.

Cons

Daily pressure to keep up with quotas despite intricacies or length of claims to review, stressful, and you felt like a number.

Decent company overall - terrible management

Overall, the company treated employees well with benefits, time off, and pay. I worked in two different departments over 5 years and it was night and day (especially management styles). Like any corporate company, low-mid level employees are treated like a number and expected to meet productivity over anything else (do your job and keep your head down). It's your typical M-F 9-5 office work. I would not recommend this company to anyone that wants to move up quickly. It's also easy to feel micro-managed but again, as long as you just do your job and not be bothered by the tedious stuff, it's not that bad.

Pros

Benefits, time off, pay

Cons

Management

I went through 6 supervisors in less then 5 years and some never did the job and had no clue but you were expected to go to them to get assistance. Makes no sense! Also, they only care about the stats (numbers) not that the customer was satisfied with the assistance they received. Customer service is a joke and even if you could help them from start to finish you were only supposed to help the customer based on what your department was.

Pros

Nothing!

Cons

Your not rewarded for doing your job and showing up.

Soul-crushing work, intentional sabotage of career development

Much of the work at LFG should be automated, but their tech is a thousand years behind the times. There is a lot of data entry, repetitive inefficient tasks, and very few opportunities for advancement. Now that I have experienced working elsewhere I can see how systematically they work to prevent the development of marketable job skills so you never have the chance to leave. I had to go back to school for a second degree just to escape, and my work history still looks subpar because of their sabotage.

Pros

401(k) matching, annual bonuses

Cons

mandatory overtime, no room for advancement

Horrible working environment

In the contact center there is absolutely threadbare support for representatives. Imaging being a quarterback and having no offensive line to protect you and that is what each day on the job was like. The most enjoyable part of the day was interacting with people who truly appreciated the help you could deliver. Very regimental structure that led to changes and action happing at the pace of an elderly snail.

Another call center in Atlanta

You can learn a lot about various insurance products at this company. Use them to gain knowledge and experience in the industry if this is the career path you are going for however do not look to this company to see you advance out of Client Service. Their methods and policies are so outdated. You will not have much authority in Client Service although in the interview they make it seem like you will. The communication with other internal department is lacking huge with this company. They are also behind with their system so you won't be as efficient as you can be in performing your job duties. The culture at this employer does not embody the company name as they try to make it seem. There is so much separation within this company and across departments, at times you feel as if you are working for a different company because of the lack of respect you receive from other departments. The micromanagement is out of control and is the main reason why people are unhappy and ready to leave the company a few months after hitting the floor. They get rid of the great managers while keeping managers who have no backbone and do not challenge their way of doing things to make it a better environment for all employees.

Pros

benefits, life insurance, short term-disability, you have a job

Cons

Micromanagement, no advancement opportunities for those who deserve it, if you know the right person you can get a raise and promotion

Terrible management with extremely high turnover.

Lincoln used to be a great place to work, but over the years has become a place of penny pinching and terrible management. Projects are never planned out properly, so all of the underlings are forced to make up for other people's mistakes. Not helping catch a project up is seen as you not being a team player, when you are basically forced to do someone else's job for no extra compensation or valuable training. I would never recommend working here, especially if you get let go, because HR will lie to unemployment about the reason you left to avoid having to pay you.

Pros

Benefits and employee perks

Cons

Just about everything else

Not knowing enough out of training

Be watchful for the crab in the bucket syndrome. Do NOT, I repeat do NOT let them know that you want career advancement. They will see to it that you won't be there long enough for advancement. Make sure that you ask EVERY question that comes to mind including but not limited to PTO, days off, and STD (if you ever have to take it). Be mindful of what you tell some supervisors and/or managers, everyone is not interested in your success. Be watchful of rookie supervisors, who target you and want you gone. Although it is an okay company to work for, some of the people in there gives LFG a very bad name. I found myself getting upset that the claim examiners weren't doing their jobs for some customers. They did not do a good job of explaining anything and left specialist to clean up their mess. The company should be all one mind speaking the same thing and not a million of the same things differently. They are not on one accord. They need to be more organized.

Management disconnect

I worked for a team with management at another location, and we were consistently left out of the loop on communications, and didn’t have the sense of “team” required to do the job correctly.

OK place to gain experience

Pay was mediocre for what is asked, but you will learn a lot and gain experience. It's a large company so you are going to have good people, bad people, and everything in between. Bad people seem to last a little longer than at other companies.
