Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Honolulu, HI – January 14, 2018
- Working here at local motion you have a lot of different shifts, mid-day, morning, or night. Within those times you are many different things. One moment you'll be working on stock, next you'd be at the register ringing up customers. Its mostly relaxed, not strict at all but there were times where it was busy and you moved around a lot. - I learned more customer service here, and how even if its relaxed you should keep yourself busy with doing something. - Management was weird? Manager would come and go as pleased, over-worked the workers that he new had the time. The big boss would come to watch the workers work as well. - Hardest part of the job was when there were days when there was only 2-3 workers. Those days were always super busy, stock would come in and be over flowing, customers coming at the same time and the store would be messy. - Most enjoyable was learning new languages like Korean, and Japanese.

Local Motion is an enjoyable and fun place to work. It is a retail surf store and basically for students to earn money and work experience. Great benefits and managers/supervisors are very down to earth.
consistent customer service (Current Employee) – Waikele, HI – August 4, 2016
I love working at Local Motion. The atmosphere of the place is casual. Customers are friendly. Has a steady flow of customers that come in. Some days a slower than others. Everyone takes care of one another.
Team Leader (Former Employee) – Minneapolis, MN – July 20, 2015
I was a team leader for over a year. I had a great boss, but kept getting stuck with the worst guys because I was the only guy in the whole location that knew how to work a manual transmission. The actual work isn't too bad once you build up to it, but between the idiot sales people and sneaky customers trying to save a few bucks, you can easily get overworked and surprised with some extremely heavy items.
Cashier (Former Employee) – Hilo, HI – November 9, 2013
It was okay, a touristy boutique that was small and didn't have that much going on. Manager was nice. Not that professional I realized now working in a really big city. No benefits or anything (it was a small business)
Great environment helping people foster their love of biking in Vermont!
Trailside Center Ambassador (Former Employee) – Burlington, VT – October 8, 2013
I had a wonderful experience working at the Local Motion Trailside Center. My manager was a really great leader, setting a productive and fun tone in the shop. Our daily routine consisted of setting customers up with bikes that were the style and size they wanted, helping people find biking routes throughout Vermont, working as a uncertified travel agent, performing bike maintenance when necessary, and maintaining a clean working environment. All of my co-workers had great attitudes, good work ethic and were passionate about biking. The pace of the shop was often very fast in the summer because of the large number of tourists, so it was vital to work well as a team. The most enjoyable parts of the job were getting to know customers and hear about their experiences biking in the city, as well as maintaining the bikes.
