Receptionist in Humble, TX

Working there was education all on its own. There was really no disfunction with working and if you needed help people were able to do so. Had the ability to be with nice people, get work done in between and provide help to people in need
Federal Work Study Student in Houston, TX
on July 7, 2022
Each day was compiled of similar tasks. Those included calling, emailing and having virtual meetings with students to inform them about their questions or programs they might want to join. As well as, informing students about their responsibilities from already being in set programs.
Staff in Texas

Pay is okay depending on the job. They will start you out at lowest salary possible coming in. Hard to move up to admin position if you are not part of a protected class. Used to be better but now incorporating everything Woke. Some supervisors are vindictive and don’t want their staff looking better than them at alt cost. Coworkers are very supportive and kind. Lots of workshops and professional development opportunities that are nice but don’t necessarily lead to advancement.
Adjunct Professor in Montgomery, TX
on June 16, 2022
In my seven years of teaching here, I am so pleased with the support staff of not only the Human Services Department, but the entire college system. The environment is strongly geared to both students and staff success.

Interview Questions

I was asked about my pedagogical methodology. They also asked what kind of a historian I was. They asked how I would handle class discussions.

Shared on August 21, 2020

How much teaching experience I had. Did I have experience using a smart board? Did I have experience teaching adults?

Shared on May 8, 2020

I was asked what experience I had running my own classes, managing my own assignments, and adhering to the curriculum without supervision. I find that once a new adjunct survives a semester, they have developed the skills to work independently. I was also asked what support I would need to succeed--I answered truthfully, and said "not much at all." Independence is definitely a strength of a wise adjunct.
