It is a pleasure to work in an environment where all the staff in there for the greater good of the students. Very supportive administration and co-workers.

the good: my job is solid, I know I won't be randomly let go which happens at so many charter schools. you have a lot of schools to choose from so if one year you are placed at a school you don't like, you can always request a new placement. the bad: the superintendent is not negotiating with the union resulting in low morale. we aren't paid as much as other districts and the work load is UNREAL. it's very stressful and employees are leaving, resulting in an even higher workload for the ones who are left.

Excellent benefits and you can be in a good situation, or not.It all depends on your school and classroom placement, coworkers, admin. Unfortunately, this is not a state where teaching stuff are paid particularly well, compared to the cost of living. And like most industries, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to put yourself first as they’re short staffed and needing all hands on deck even when that’s not necessarily the best place for you to be. It used to be a lot more mentally rewarding and some of the students/families still make it so.

It was a fast paced job with a lot to get done and very little time. If you like that sort of thing, working for LAUSD is for you. One minute the kids were arriving for day 1, the next minute it was Christmas holiday for 3 weeks. I like being busy and I love working with people how care about kids as much as I do.

Theres no interview for the positions you only take exams for the positions that you apply. You do have an interview with the coordinator that hires you just so they can know about you.
