Challenging & Rewarding…Does not pay what it should.

Pro: Overall working as a Substitute is a rewarding and challenging career. I loved the teachers and students at the schools I worked at. I also enjoyed growing as an educator.Con: Short Staffed/ High Demand for one to do way more then a normal substitute without compensation. Subs are seen as less then by the district and it is made known.

Lausd is a good place to work

Each school has its own culture (way of life) in doing things. The principals, for the most part, are nice. The staff is like any school district. I find as an African American substitute, I face microinvalidations and microaggressions, however; it is the United States of America so it is par for the course. The rate of pay could be higher, however making approximately $210/day is not bad. My commutes are amazing, and I love the interactions I have with the locals. If you work 100 days (600 hours) per year, you will receive health benefits in which the District pays 100%!!I enjoy my time and I think applying and working at LAUSD is worth it.

Excellent Pay

I enjoy working at LAUSD. They are very organized, very structured, and good support is available. Our superintendent Is very good, and we have a strong union. I enjoy working there.
