Lowes was once a great company, not now
Corporate Manager (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCJuly 14, 2019
Marvin Ellison and his posse are slowly destroying a company for his personal vendetta for Home Depot passing him up as CEO. He worked as CEO of HC Penneys until his no compete clause expired. He cant change a 70 year corporate culture into a clone of Home Depot. The good talent is leaving for higher positions elsewhere. They are bringing in old HD leaders their prime. In 3 trars Anazpn prime

Strategic Sourcing Sr. Analyst (Current Employee) –  Mooresville, NCJune 5, 2019
Competitive salary but has below average benefits. Culture is still a little old school but the new CEO is starting to change that perception.

Overall the company does not offer a lot of flexibility or work remote options. depending on what group you are in you will have a little more flexibility or remote options.

Overall good company to work for and lots of people who care about the company.
Pros
Gym onsite
Cons
Below average benefits

Great place to work with the right leadership, the wrong leadership then not so great
Information Management Senior Specialist (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCMay 23, 2019
Lowe's has its up and has it downs. Lowe's in known for huge layoffs. When you are working, it is a great place to work provided you have good leadership within the group you work and not leadership that on the outside likes to paint a pretty picture and promise the world, but in reality are only out for themselves, they like to pull that trigger to make themselves feel like something they are truly not. Unfortunately you have these people in Lowe's. In 15 years, I developed great professional relationships internally as well as externally with our vendor partners. I would recommend Lowe's to any person that may be interested. With the new CEO coming from a merchandising background and not from an accounting background, Lowe's will be heading in the right directions.

Fast Paced Stressful Retail Environment
Supply Chain (Current Employee) –  Mooresville, NCMay 10, 2019
Lowe's does not value people from stores up to corporate despite a lot of talk from executives otherwise; people are numbers on an expense line to be reduced. Leadership changes direction/focus frequently and does not enable the business with the resources to execute strategies effectively. There is no work/life balance and employees are paid bottom dollar in the market. There is no investment in employees or attempt at retention. Expect a re-org every couple years; no job security. "What have you done for me lately?"

A lot of good people work there, struggling to survive under oppressive leadership.

It is what you make of it
International Merchandise Director (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCApril 24, 2019
Lowe's has a unique culture that is passive-aggressive from a management point of view. In some instances, they are afraid to make decisions, commitments or say exactly what they think. There is a good chance to make work friendships and enjoy a healthy job tenure. However, there is always the possibility that your job will be changed or eliminated based on the latest corporate thinking on what your job, or you, should be. For instance, there was at one time the idea that "agility" was a top level requirement for managers. The definition of "agility" took on many forms within the organization and caused the demise of many productive and knowledgeable people. Also, youth was a premium over experience.
Pros
Good solid company with upside potential
Cons
Various operational cultures within the organization

Lowes is a wonderful place to work with great co-workers but the recent management has been taking away from the great work experience. Although lowes is still a great place to work and would recommend it to everyone!

It is your typical corporate office but with the leadership change there has not been stable job security. Management in the past lacked the ability to provide consistent and meaningful feedback that will allow you to hit your goals.

I thought the company was a great place to work ,but didn't like that they released 5 older employees, just before they holidays.
Level 1 IT support (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCMarch 18, 2019
If your young, the job may help you a lot because you are younger. The company didn't support me because I was older. Hopefully, if your younger, you can have a long career.
Pros
Busy, nice place to work, and pretty building.
Cons
Too much playing the numbers, with employees.

Lowe's is a company still struggling to find its identity. The organization has hemorrhaged talent over the past few years and has had difficulty implementing plans due to this. Make no mistake the company is still operating on a solid business model however the future vision for Lowe's is concerning and I would caution anyone looking at them as a potential employer to be wary of the silver lining they feed to you during the interview process.

Poor management by previous leadership; Transitory period now
Treasury Senior Manager (Current Employee) –  Mooresville, NCMarch 14, 2019
The company is in the midst of a lot of change to contract the business and optimize the core U.S. business. This will have a lot of consequences on organizational structure changes, personnel allocation, and place wage pressures or compensation shortcomings due to poor financial performance in recent years.
Pros
2 cafeterias, 2 coffee bars, campus-wide Wi-Fi, flexible work from home
Cons
Typical corporate bureaucracy and inability to stay on strategic paths

Lowe's has a great work environment and excellent management. It is challenging but fulfilling. I learned how to be pushed independently but work in a team setting. It offers excellent development opportunities and upward mobility.

Executive leadership is on the right track, but it hasn't trickled down yet. There is quite a bit of potential for Lowe's in the future I think though.

Overworked & unappreciated
Manager (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCFebruary 21, 2019
I loved my position with Lowe's; however, after many reorganizations, I fell into a situation where I was transferred to a department that were restructuring responsibilities. I was outsourced to a 3rd party with no offer of placing me elsewhere. After many years of service, no offer of another role within the company was devastating.

Beware
Pion (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCFebruary 19, 2019
The company is highly disorganized and siloed; most departments are totally unaware and disregard the projects and initiatives. Executive management is disconnected with middle management; decisions are made at the top frequently without regard or consultation with middle management, ultimately affecting the underlying workers. Constant hire/fire and shifting of positions, teams, workloads, etc.

Speaking to disconnect - I was there for over a week before I even got a laptop because the new hire approval was sent to a supervisor that was out on maternity leave. It was three months before I was added to all the databases I needed to complete my day-to-day work, because various administrators would ignore requests and when you did follow up, they'd simply refer you to someone else.
Pros
Cafeteria on site, discounts with local businesses
Cons
Extremely disconnected

The CEO at the time wasn't a Leader and didn't know how to surround himself with good people.

Project Manager, Human Resources (Former Employee) –  Mooresville, NCFebruary 13, 2019
Not a good place to work if you are use to certain benefits and culture of working in a corporate environment. No flexibility with schedule or working from home. Didn't feel that work life balance was very important.
Pros
Store discount
Cons
Only 2 paid holidays off a year
