You can make money at any time of the day if Lyft lets you. The request are distributed out to drivers by Lyft. If they feel like you've made enough money, they turn your app off or just let you sit without a fare for hours or give you $3.00 routes..keep your day job...I quit mine and now, at times I dont think I'll be able to pay bills and have pocket change.
Really depends on where you live.
In in a big city so I make most of mine at night. I usually go from 7pm to 8 or 9 the next morning that is o. The weekends
There are peak times, usually when clubs close. Be aware that the $35 per hour income is largely fiction.
The avg is about $9-10/hr. Minus gas make about $7/hr. Wear and tear add $600/yr. Not getting reimbursed for throw-up, peepee, pizza stains, drug dealers making frequent "stops" priceless...
I live in the suburbs. Requests are at least 20-35 minutes away. Most of the rides are under $7. Then customers cancel the ride 60% of the time because they just switch to uber based on time and price. Lyft has bonuses but if if one doesn't accept a few seriously unprofitable rides then u won't make the 3 mandatory policy rules.
They really need a suburban mode. Tougher cancellation policy, charge to pickup based on distance, etc.
I have been a professional chauffeur for 37 yrs. I retired and moved to San Diego. I got bored and went to work for Lyft. I applied my knowledge of the industry. Mornings from 5-10am take a break 9-10pm to 3am. Friday and Saturday night I was kept moving from 10pm to sometimes 11am the next morning. Find your areas patterns. Airport outbound occur early mornings. Bars, clubs, and other night life. Know your market do some research.
Its my experience that drivers can earn in the morning, take 3 or 4 hours off, and can earn in the evenings.
Yes, there are peak hours that Lyft informs you of where you can make more.
