Here's what people have asked and answered about working for and interviewing at Madison School & Community Recreation.
The environment I work in, which is at Mendota Elementary, is a very fun and enthusiastic place to be. The staff work very well together and are always there to help each other out with anything. I have enjoyed every minute of the experience in after school. I can tell the students are getting a lot out of the experience. I do everything I can to make sure they enjoy themselves because I know for a lot of them, their home lives aren't something that many would want to be a part of, so I make sure I am putting all my attention towards them by interacting with them on a variety of things, planned activities, helping them with homework, and serve as a figure because that is something they need in their lives. Every Friday, I will go out and buy treats for them, something they may not get at all or as much at home because like everyday, I want them to have something to look forward to. It's a great environment to be in, and it's something I have really enjoyed.
The pace of work is just fine. There are two group leaders in a classroom, so that if there's a student acting out, while a group leader is trying to explain something to the class, that other group leader can pull the student to the side and talk to the student on what is going on with them. Tuesdays through Fridays are the practically the same, except for there's more free choice on Friday, but once a routine is developed with academic time, activity time, etc., the pace of the work is very easy. Mondays are similar to the other four days, but there are clubs in the middle of the after school program. The pace of the work is very similar to what I had stated in my review summary on a typical day at work.
