I couldn't stand walking into the open office environment in Westbrook. I'd pass by several team members sleeping at their desks or watching Netflix. No one cares about the patients there; it's just a job. Management doesn't care either so long as their Gemba walks are filled out each day because all that happy hand holding stuff is more important to Geoff Fallon than actual patient care.
DON at the gardens at Quarry Hill in Camden, ME starts trouble with the staff. She speaks to everyone she feels is beneath her with disrespect.
If you were in charge, what would you do to make MaineHealth a better place to work?
Replace current supervisor with an individual who has people skills. Narcissistic and demeaning should NEVER be acceptable in management
What is the vacation policy like at MaineHealth? How many vacation days do you get per year?
For 1-2 week vacations, Twice a year you submit requests and it goes by seniority (unless a senior already had the time you are asking for) only 2 RN are off at a given time. You can ask for special requests for family events and long distance travel. Usually most people get the time they need with some compromise. You can also ask for other days off and will get as long as there is coverage.
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at MaineHealth? What are the steps along the way?
Phone interview, in-person interview with direct report, 2nd interview with team. Then if hired a reference check, background check and drug test needs to be completed. If everything works out you can start at the beginning of a pay period so it may be another 2 weeks before you can start. It takes about a month from start to finish.
