Productive work environment but depressing atmosphere
Material Handler (Former Employee) – Brooklyn, NY – August 26, 2016
typical day at work: come into work, get told what to do, bring parts back and forth ti the line, make sure we order whatever parts to the production floor from warehouse, and hope nothing is missing/not in the factory/warehouse or else the lines would stop/put to a halt (this happened frequently).
What I learned: How to build a Replicator 2/2x, Inventory management, how a production line works.
Management: would practically stare you down or question you for every little thing, will or say one thing but do/mean another.
Co-workers were phenomenal! They got the jobs done (even in weeks of overtime-typically a month or two). Everyone was down to Earth or able to connect with each other in some way, shape or form!
Hardest part of the job: Trying to get through the weeks of overtime, I love me some overtime..but when they last for a month or two it feels very excessive and everyone gets worn out very quickly with all of the lifting of machinery and heavy parts!
Most enjoyable part: I got to and and work with 3d printers. As a prop builder/cosplayer, this was such an amazing thing to learn how to work with as I use it now. Also, again...my coworkers helped make the job enjoyable with after work meet-ups and just hanging out.
ability to listen to personal music/use phones(briefly), free coffee, 50 cent vending machines, drinks for $1, other workers were excellent and got the jobs done under pressure.
Management, excessive overtime, misrepresentation of key information, short lunches
