Avoid Making Waves for your sanity!
Faculty Member (Former Employee) –  Richmond, CAApril 19, 2018
The management and culture at this school will send you quickly packing after a short time there. The employee turnover rate is so high that the students have become afraid to bond with teachers and staff because they know they are more likely to leave than stay. The administration is condescending and completely incompetent. They create a tense work culture based on belittling in which they continuously flex their power over you to make you feel like you don’t know how to do your job. As a result, faculty and staff members frequently leave—many of the mid-year—and consequently many courses such as math and foreign language are carried out by either long-term subs or a computer program (no live instruction on the subject is given in the classroom). How can a school survive like this? The administration has done and continues to do a tremendous disservice to a student population that is desperately in need of stability, personal connections, and strong academic foundations. These kids are in no way having these needs met at this school. I feel deeply sorry for them and for the faculty and staff who continue to stay and suffer through the daily routine and unhealthy culture for the sake of the students.
