Registered Behavior Technician (Current Employee) –  Mililani Town, HIAugust 21, 2019
Hours suck, pay sucks, you will always be looking to pick up extra shifts . but the only plus is they are very supportive. Everyone is so happy, they really have so much love for what they do .

Amazing place to work at!
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) (Current Employee) –  Mililani Town, HIJuly 26, 2019
I’ve been working here for almost 6 months now and I just want to give a review on how much I enjoy working at Malama Pono. I’ve never felt so appreciated in any job I’ve had before. Everyone is so nice and supportive, I’ve yet to come across someone who treats me wrong or comes off in a bad way. This is a stressful job at times but you always have support if you need/ask for it. There’s always room to pick up more hours if you feel you aren’t offered enough. I enjoy going to work throughout the week and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to work here with these awesome people and these children. If you’re up for it you should apply and give this job a chance if your interested. You won’t regret it. Annnd there’s always food in the staff lounges which is a plus.

Stressful environment
Registered Behavior Technician (Former Employee) –  Mililani Town, HIJuly 18, 2019
I felt very uncomfortable and stressed working there. Barely any friendly RBTs and high turnover of employees due to unhappy work environment. I was indoors 95% of the day working with kids and hardly outdoors. There wasnt much of any area to work or play with clients outside and parents would drop kids off all day and act frustrated when picking them up. Not culturally based important in Hawaii.
Pros
You work with ASD kids and make a difference
Cons
No consistent lunch hours given, other RBTs unfriendly, old timers condescend on you in front others, BCBAs had difficulty updating clients programs causing problem behaviors, employee injuries were not important, no relief for breaks, not enough prep time between clients, poor scheduling, no outdoor life skill training to clients, other employees disrespectful to new hires

Management SUCKS! Kids are AMAZING!
RBT (Former Employee) –  Mililani, HIJuly 14, 2019
Working at MPAC was frustrating. There was always a problem going on. Either with communication, cleanliness of the center, or not being able to pay staff on time. Working with the kids was the best part, even though it can be challenging and taxing at times. Management was awful and continued to blame issues on poor communication problems that never got addressed or swept under the rug. Turn over rates are high and not many ways to move up in the company unless you want to become a BCBA.

Very supportive work environment
RBT (Former Employee) –  Mililani Town, HIJuly 1, 2019
This is a very supportive place, everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and supported especially when you are first starting. It's hard work and working with kids isn't easy, but it feels worthwhile. I've learned a lot and am really appreciative of everyone at Malama Pono. Sad to leave!
Pros
Warm work environment, lots of support
Cons
Emotionally draining work

Great start, but that's it.
RBT (Former Employee) –  Mililani, HIMay 25, 2019
Malama Pono Autism Center can provide a great entry to the field of ABA. They provide training and certifications to become an RBT. Unfortunately that's it. Management will always be an issue with this center, and retention rate is terrible. The work culture is always changing since most staff are new. There are no other advancements in the RBT position.
Pros
diverse employees, expanding center, parking
Cons
pay, favoritism, no advancements, hours, communication

Great way to gain experience in ABA
Registered Behavior Technician (Current Employee) –  Honolulu, HIApril 8, 2019
Malama Pono is the type of work environment that allows opportunities to gain experience in the field of ABA. The overall vibe at the work place is pretty good, those with current experience are helpful to those just joining the team. Though some days can be more stressful then others, the rewarding part is making a difference in the lives of the clients and their families.

Strong community based around helping others
Registered Behavioral Therapist (Former Employee) –  Mililani Town, HI 96789December 4, 2018
MPAC has a really strong community within it's staff. It's not an easy job and requires lots of hard work, passion, and dedication. However, the rewards in helping families and children with autism is wonderful. The pay could be better and more of a break during long shifts.
Pros
Pto, flexible scheduling, strong team.
Cons
short breaks, mentally and physically demanding, no sick days

Such a growing experience
Registered Behavior Technician (Former Employee) –  Mililani Town, HINovember 27, 2018
I enjoyed working at Malama Pono Autism center. They have a very knowledgable administration and strong BCBAs and speech pathologists. The preschool program was unique as it had very small class size (4-5 students) and was centered around vocalization and social peer interaction.
Pros
Strong administration team, great feedback
Cons
not enough staffing to accommodate the number of clientele at times

Great place if you love kids and a challenge
Behavior Technician (Current Employee) –  Mililani Town, HIApril 30, 2017
Working here you will learn a great skill that not everyone can attain. You have to be strong minded and willing to learn. If you love kids and want a challenge then this will be a place for you. You need to be a multi-tasker as you will be observing, programing, collecting data, and having fun. There are days when you will have a lot of support from supervisors and coworkers. When you don't have any support, it can get really tough. But don't worry, you'll have support majority of the time.

Management is very helpful, but communication between co-workers could be better. The environment allows creativity and fun, but at times work could be extremely stressful. Its a joy to help the client's and see progress very fulfilling when you analyze everything.
Pros
great pay

communication with teammates and stress level at times
