Not all that bad or great. No frills food distributor. Company does not embrace technology. Basically sink or swim. Poor training for inexperienced new reps. Ownership is involved, super nice people. Pros. Great cut steak program, profit sharing. Commissions based position. Overall average at best. Cons: lazy credit department no help with collections 0or customer issues. My direct Manger is horrible, no help with problems, points fingers, every customer is a deadbeat, gossips about Ownership and upper management. Constantly lying to others reps in our district, not a good team builder. At the end of the day if you work hard you can earn a good living.

Pros

Profit Sharing

Cons

Credit Department is useless

No Work Life Balance, Incompetent Management

A family owned business that has deteriorated since the passing of the patriarch. They now run rudderless with no knowledge or guidance. Nepotism reigns supreme. Most of the management is still there from when they were a very small distributor, now that they have grown exponentially larger over the years, the management, and inexperienced family members are in way over their head and lack the knowledge and ability to effectively manage a large operation and workforce. You can make good money if you are one of the good old boys that are still there from the early days, as they are spoon fed leads and given opportunities the rest don’t get, and are sycophants to managements face, but ridicul and make fun of them behind their backs. There is no consistency or standard operating procedures in place for salesman equity. Their sales system actually pits the salesman against one another and creates a culture of stabbing your fellow workers in the back to get ahead. Only those willing to lie, cheat, and steal will make good money, which is fully supported by management. In fact, they will teach you how to lie too, deceive, and price gouge your customers in order to increase sales. This is not exclusive to Maplevale however; most Foodservice distributors encourage the same deceptive sales practices. If you have no conscience, values, morals, or ethics, this would be a good job for you, as those are the ones who excel in this industry. Management also expects you to be available 24/7, work weekends and nights, to achieve your unobtainable sales goals. The maximum amount of vacation -

Pros

Good medical coverage

Cons

Uneqitable and unfair treatment. No work life balance. 2 weeks maximum vacation, even after 30 years. Nepotism reigns supreme. Unqualified, inexperienced management.

Management is a joke

No attendance policy so there's 15-20 call ins WEEKLY. Supervisor is a worthless, unqualified 22 year old kid who calls employees vulgar and racist names. No workload requirements so no incentive to work hard when others choose not to. The list goes on.

Pros

Good Pay

Cons

Too many to list

Good company to work with

Tough to deal with some customers. Not always easy to balance home/work life when “on call” 24/7. Sales force is a tough but a worthy job all in all. Warehouse can be a good job too

Worst place!

They say it's a family business but would screw their own mother over for money! Management has the most disrespectful people I've ever seen particularly warehouse manager who bullies, belittles and harasses employees. When it was brought to upper managements attention (by 10+ employees) he gets slap on the wrist. employee's have zero morale and depression and hatred is everywhere. continues.

Worst management ever

Where do I even start? They run you into the ground, the warehouse is an absolute mess. You pick up your loaded trailer and it looks like it was loaded by a bunch of drunk 6th graders, and if you complain about it, it’s your fault. You’re told to overcome negative situations instead of management trying to solve the problem. Your day becomes 3-4 hours longer than it has to be. Sales staff are extremely shady. They send brands customers don’t use or want and try to sneak in items customers didn’t order just to cushion their commissions

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Poorly managed and people aren’t held accountable for their mistakes

Management Poor

Berated people if you were not like or questioned their practices. Not a pleasant environment and no way to complain of being harassed by a member of management.

Maplevale Farms has great discounts and benefits but mainly for there full time employees and salary employees only

Poor management and has very complicated systems and refuse to help there employees do there jobs. Employed workers tend to have struggles with performing there jobs due to underperforming workers or lack there of workers hired

very well family oriented company

I love the atmosphere at Maplevale, love 99% of the job. They have great incentives, value their employees, and have a caring of the family unit. Hardest part of the job is when people call off there seems not to be enough coverage.

Pros

profit shares

Cons

no flexibility of hours

Poor place to work with zero job security.

A typical day of work at Maplevale Farms consists of shivering in a freezer for multiple hours, and then exiting the freezer to be told that you did not get enough work done in your measly six hour day. Management is poor and the warehouse manager picks favorites and enjoys bragging about his ability to fire anyone for any reason at anytime. Coworkers are stuffy and reserved. Only a handful of friendly people.

Pros

Freezer suit is provided

Cons

Unfriendly environment, poor management, poor hours, zero benefits regardless of full-time or part-time status.
