Hospice Cna in Remote
on October 20, 2021
I loved loved loved this company. Hours and start times were pretty flexible, nurses and superiors were always there to help if needed. I do feel we could’ve been paid more fairly but other than that the job itself was great. Meeting a lot of new people along the way and caring for others in a time of need. Normal day included 4-6 pt ratio, sometimes less or more. PTO and was provided a company vehicle.

Like any nursing home, Covid was hard but the nurse Manager was always receptive and worked hard to support the nursing staff. There are many Amazing CNAs and nurses! Not always enough staff but the ones who worked nights always worked together. I worked as a nurse on nights. I also work at hospitals Med-surg and started working there prn. It is not easy and still one of the most challenging but rewarding places I have ever worked. However, I have seen and heard how other nursing homes are run and this facility is one of the best. I would probably still be working there but left because I moved. Lots of g-tubes and wound care. Some Piccs and hospice patients. Mix of long term and short term residents. Nurses on days/pms mostly focus on insulin’s, wounds, g-tubes, assessments, any meds that are not oral; med-techs on days/pms do the oral scheduled and oral prn meds. Nights nurses also do insulin’s, wounds, g-tubes, assessments iv meds, and pass all oral meds but the oral meds are mostly prn oral meds.
CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant in Watertown, WI

Staffing is awful. Management doesn’t really care about staff at all! They left me ( a CNA) alone with almost 40 residents on a station and expected me to take care of them all before my shift was over!

Most days include interactions with multiple peers to work on projects to support employee and resident satisfaction. Our team is supportive and fun. We stay focused and balance our time with humor and celebration.

This is a horrible place to work at. They are severely understaffed and even when staff want to work, people are often denied their shift request because of “budget” or “too many people working already” (they staff the bare minimum and think its acceptable.) Management DOES NOT help with the exception of state being in the building. Many incidents are covered up. If there is a concern about a resident, the nurses don’t even want to hear it and will often get mad at you for saying anything. Nothing is handled in an efficient manner. There is extremely poor communication between all departments. The scheduler will take you off days and put you on others without consulting you or even letting you know. There is extreme favoritism here. Management will not work with you unless it is in their favor. Don’t even bother with PTO... it will be denied. The scheduler has tried to make people find their own replacement or just said NO when people call in feeling ill. The pay is not fair. They raise the starting wages but fail to go back and adjust current employee wages. Raises are once a year and are mainly based on if you did your relias or went to meetings. They do not appreciate you or show they care. This place should be shut down. Residents being changed once a shift. Residents not being fed. Residents getting more and more bed sores. This place is getting run down to the ground by management. Don’t waste your time.
