Licensed Practical Nurse (Former Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIMarch 5, 2019
Always have supplies to do your job effectively. Management isn't always great. I had a really nice and helpful unit manager. The work wasn't hard it was no teamwork and cna's who you constantly have to babysit. Nothing was enforced all around, made for a very unpleasant work environment.
Pros
Great benefits and opportunities for overtime
Cons
Management wasn't always on the same page, which made it difficult to have clear expectations.

Keep to yourself
Certified Nurse Assistant (Former Employee) –  Clinton Township, MIFebruary 20, 2018
If you keep to yourself and limit the conversations with co-workers you will be fine. Separate personal life from work life. The work can be hard depending on if staffed properly.

Great benefits poor management
LPN (Current Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIFebruary 15, 2018
Employees are overworked and understaffed. No appreciation is shown and the ability to advance was once present but now fading away. The management here is poor and one sided except for the new current DON. THEY WILL DENY YOUR VACATION TIME IF THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY STAFFED AND THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT PROPERLY STAFF THE BUILDING.
Pros
benefits
Cons
management not including current DON

Poor Place to work, but the pay is worth it.
Environmental Services (Current Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIOctober 16, 2017
Martha T Berry Medical Center is a poor place to work. The Management, does not know how to properly fix problems, be little's employees underneath them, and has their favorites, that they let do whatever they want. There are many lazy workers, who hardly work during their shift, whom never seem to get in trouble, while the workers that are hard working do.

There are a lot of clicks "Social Groups." Within this work place. So good luck trying to find who has Your back and who does not.

Martha T Berry Tries to use Team work, but hardly anyone will help You.

The pay is worth it though, but You have to deal with a lot of drama.
Pros
Good pay, flexible schedules.
Cons
Drama, poor management, lazy workers, no team work.

Getting better
CNA (Current Employee) –  MichiganAugust 14, 2016
The benefits are great, working consistently with enough cnas on the floor is getting better. New unit manager on 2b is really doing a great jobe some patients are really spoiled and lazy. Really could use a real rehab team to help implement self care . Overtime is pretty good, you can really get some things done...your attitude determine s your altitude. Pretty clean environment...
Pros
Benefits, overtime, nurses don't ride you lot of love and smiles.
Cons
Dining room time for cnas, recognition of good workers

Fun and fast pace place to work
Nursing Assistant (Former Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIMay 14, 2016
While employed at Martha T. Berry, A typical day started with getting reports on assignments, greeting team members and residents. I learned that time management and knowledge of my residents behaviors were the keys to being a successful CNA. For example, dementia patients can change their behavior from a state of calm to state of anxiousness in matter of seconds and my ability to quickly notice the change and redirect in accordance with their ADLs was critical to reassuring residents that they are in a familiar and safe environment. One of the challenges of my job was knowing that one redirection technique does not fit all cituation and knowing when to apply a new one. But the most enjoyable parts of my job was keeping a safe and clean environment and being apart the moments in their lives when they show signs of contentment.
Pros
Plenty of hours available
Cons
Not much room for advancement

workplace is terrible
CNA (Former Employee) –  Mt. Clemens, MIJanuary 8, 2016
Martha t berry is one of the cleanest nursing home i worked at. Management is very poor they have two floors that is ran completely different so try not to work on second floor its a lost cause. Everyone in upper management, far as human resources, scheduling, don's seems to always throw the blame on the next person. Only good thing about the job is it was a money making job with much overtime you needed now theyre even cutting back on that. Company sucks period. Thank God for the agengy tri county and vibrus cause without them youll work short staff everyday as a aide
Pros
was once a money making job

Needs New Oversight
Anonymous (Former Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIOctober 21, 2015
High turn around in all areas of facility from CNA's to Management/Directors. Administration does not like to make decisions or changes their mind with the wind. High turn around also means policies and procedures are changing with every new manager. They will hire for a permanent position and then fire the person when all the hard work is done. If operations is not going well, they will look for a scapegoat and let someone in management go to take the blame for lack of guidance, supervision, and decision making.
Pros
Great Benefits
Cons
High turn around in all areas

Caution
Controller (Former Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIOctober 19, 2015
Very few candidates in administration make it through their 6 month probation. Management is a revolving door, creates poor morale, working environment and confusion as to policies and procedures as they change with each new manager.

Fairly high turnover rate in management and Nursing/CNA positions. When fully staffed, fair to good patient-staff ratios. Decent pay/benefits.

A busy place where you can use a large percentage of your nursing skills.
Floor nurse (Current Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIOctober 17, 2014
You will usually find residents on every floor going to or coming from activities. You just might have to redirect a "lost" resident who got off
the elevator on the wrong floor, or who turned down the wrong hall going to their room. Of 200+ residents management will know most residents by name. Co-workers are co-operative and willing to help
when the need arises. The geriatric set is fun to be around. Some become quite attached to you. Family members also become attached and have their favorite staffers. This makes the hardest part of the job "the hardest part", when a resident passes.
Pros
First impressions of public are good, very clean place to work. Spacious, staff is friendly and helpful. Benefits are good.
Cons
Policies can change quickly without notice, communication between upper management and floor staff could improve, Nurse to patient ratio could be better, flexible hrs. (i.e. 12 hr shifts rather than 8hr) would be appreciated .

They did not care about their employees
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Mount Clemens, MIJune 2, 2014
Martha T. Berry is more worries about the bottom dollar than their employees. They are eliminating all of their full time positions and filling them with part time workers. The turn around is horrible. I did like the people I worked with. I think the management needs to be changed though,.
Pros
Great co-workers
Cons
No permanent jobs, no job security, horrible management
